We are a family who wants to travel to discover other cultures and other ways of life off the beaten tourist track. We love nature and meeting people.

Description

Nous sommes une famille de trois : Jacques (58 ans), Lucie (56 ans) et notre fille cadette, Aliyèt (16 ans). Nous vivons en France, près de Tours (Val de Loire). Nous adorons voyager et rencontrer des gens hors des sentiers battus. Sensibles à la protection de l’environnement, nous nous efforçons de réduire notre impact écologique.

En juillet et août 2023, nous avons voyagé en Asie du Sud-Est (Thaïlande, Cambodge et Laos) et avons travaillé à deux reprises avec des hôtes Workaway : une fois dans une ferme en Thaïlande et une autre fois dans des rizières au Laos, où en plus nous enseignions l’anglais en jouant à des enfants.

En août 2024, nous avons voyagé en Grèce et avons également travaillé deux fois avec des hôtes Workaway : nous avons débroussaillé et aménagé des sentiers dans un village de montagne, puis participé à l’entretien et à l’organisation d’une fête de village dans un monastère.

En août 2025, nous sommes allés en Californie et avons travaillé avec un hôte Workaway dans une forêt du nord, transportant et empilant du bois.

Jacques est le bricoleur de la famille. Ingénieur de formation, il aime transmettre ses connaissances scientifiques. Il aime aussi réparer des appareils, faire de la photo, utiliser des ordinateurs (Photoshop et autres logiciels, réseaux, etc.). Son anglais est bon.

Lucie s'occupe du jardin autour de notre maison. Elle est biographe et gère un gîte. Elle a également de l'expérience dans l'animation auprès d'enfants. Elle parle presque couramment anglais et aime cuisiner.

Aliyèt était scout et a l'habitude des activités de plein air et du camping et est débrouillarde. Elle est au lycée, parle bien anglais et espagnol, langues qu'elle a apprises à l'école. Elle aime dessiner et faire de délicieuses pâtisseries.

Ces dernières années, nous avons voyagé ensemble en Asie du Sud, en Californie et en Europe. Auparavant, quand Lucie et Jacques étaient jeunes, ils ont beaucoup voyagé, notamment au Laos, en Inde, en Chine et en Afrique. Lucie a également vécu trois ans au Mali.

We are a family of 3 : Jacques (58), Lucie (56), and our youngest daughter Aliyèt (16). We live in France, near Tours (Loire valley). We love to travel and meet people off the beaten tourist track. We feel concerned by the protection of the environment and try to reduce our environmental footprint.
In July and August 2023, we travelled in south east Asia Thaïland, Cambodia and Lao, and worked twice with Workaway hosts : once in a farm in Thaïland, and once in rice fields and teaching English in Lao.
In August 2024, we travelled in Greece, and also worked twice with Workaway hosts : we cleared brush and paths in a mountain village, then helped with maintenance and organizing a village festival in a monastery.
In August 2025 we travelled in California and worked with a Workaway host in a northern forest, transporting and stacking wood.
Jacques is the one doing the DIY for the family. He’s an ingeneer and likes to teach scientific subject. He also likes repairing devices, making photos, using computers (Photoshop and other softwares, networks etc...). His english is good.
Lucie is the one who takes care of the garden around our house. She’s a writer of biographies and manages a lodge. She's also experienced in entertainment and supervision of children. She's almost fluent english and she is also likes to cook.
Aliyet used to be scout and is experienced in open-air activities and camping. She is resourceful.
Aliyèt is in high school too and she’s quite mature. She’s good in english and spanish that she learns at school. She loves to draw and also create lovely and tasty pastries.
These last years, we’ve been travelling together in South Asia, California and Europe, and previously, when Lucie and Jacques were young, they have been travelling in many places like Laos, India, China, Africa etc… Lucie also used to live 3 years in Mali.
