  • Description

Hey, I’m Joaquín, a 19 years old solo traveler from Mexico City.

Currently taking a gap year after I graduated from High School, looking for new experiences and learning.

I’m a really easy going guy who loves traveling and meeting new people from all over the world, I got really used to it partly because of the Eurail pass that let me moved a lot from place to place (normally I didn’t stay more than 4 nights in any city), this allowed me to meet a huge amount of people in a short period of time.

What I’m looking for using Workaway it’s to be a volunteer in a hostel or in any other project that allows me to learn new things and to share my travel experiences. Also I’m interested in meeting the locals and learning from their cultures.

    •Communication:
Talking to people and having good communication it’s one of my biggest skills, when it comes to share ideas, exchange of knowledge, or just a casual conversation I can say that I’m really good at it.

    •Cooking:
The Mexican cuisine it’s well known worldwide as one of the best in the world, not just because of the flavors but because of the many different dishes that we can do with the same ingredients.
As a Mexican I learned the basics of cooking and I how to do some traditional Mexican dishes too.
I like cooking, it’s really relaxing for me, and it’s a way to share too.

    •Pet sitting:
I’ve been surrendered by dogs since I was a little kid and now I have 4 back in Mexico, me and my family take care of them, so I’m really comfortable with dogs and cats around.
Giving them food, cleaning and playing with them are good tasks for me.

    •House keeping:
Making beds, vacuuming, wash dishes, cleaning floors, and general house task is what I can offer. I do have some experience.
Also I used to paint houses in my free time during summer when I was in secundary school.

    •Work with wood:
During the pandemic I came out with a project for my house, I made a wooden floor (sundeck) for my backyard all by myself (pictures of the process in my gallery.
As I didn’t had nothing to do and I wanted to be productive I decided to make a sundeck, of course it took me months but it gave me the experience that I need to work with wood, thanks of that I can say that I’m skilled with it.

    •Driving:
One of the thing I like the most in the world are cars, I love learning about mechanics and how engines work, so since I was a 14 year old kid I learned how to drive. Also I work for 6 months as a chofer back in Mexico, I drove all over Mexico City doing the task that the company assigned me. I can drive all types of manual and automatic cars.

    •Guitar:
Here’s not much to say but I’ve been playing guitar for the last 8 years of my life, I could teach someone how to play or I could play for people too, acoustic or electronic I get along really well with both.

  • Age

    19

  • What else ...

During my trip I’ve learned that traveling it’s more about the people you meet on your way than the places you can see on your journey. Only humans can make you human, and I want to be more human every day, a better human.

So I’m always open to learn from people and to teach people what I know, I’m looking for people to impact in my life and to impact in their lifes too.

Just for a smooth endless summer.
