Description
We are two best friends from Spain, currently in our final year of university, studying Mathematics and Economics.
What truly motivates us is getting involved in meaningful volunteer experiences. We’re not just looking to travel , we’re looking to help. We believe that learning from people, supporting local communities, and contributing with whatever we can is the most rewarding part of any trip. That’s why Workaway feels like the perfect way for us to grow and give back, by connecting with people, cultures and causes that matter.
We’re just as happy having slow, thoughtful days, reading, walking, deep conversations, enjoying art and local culture, as we are doing more active things. We both love football, spending time outdoors, and sharing meaningful experiences with others.
We believe that giving, learning and sharing with open hearts is what makes travel truly special. We’re always eager to help, learn and make the most out of every moment.Interests

I speak advanced English and French, and I have a basic level of Portuguese. We’re both comfortable communicating in Spanish, English, or French. Whichever works best for you! Whether we teach or learn, cultural and language exchange is always enriching for everyone. More details about your skills
We are two young students from Madrid, Spain. We are a mathematician majoring in mathematical engineering (Isma) and a mathematics and an economics student (Juanjo). We have a deep love of travelling and having experiences abroad, having the both of us taken part in the Erasmus exchange programme in Paris, France.
Despite our rather technical education, we have interests beyond mathematics. Both of us speak English and French (apart from Spanish) and we are each learning a new language, Portuguese (Isma) and German (Juanjo); we believe learning new languages and communicating in this way with local people helps build stronger connections when travelling abroad. We are also very keen on sports, having played football (soccer) for most of our lives, with Juanjo taking part in children coaching courses.
We LOVE music (i cannot stress this enough). We both play the guitar, Juanjo also, or at least tries, plays piano. We have a soft spot for art in general, always eager to go to the new exposition in town; and specially when travelling, enabling us to connect with the people and culture of the place in a much broader sense. Art we believe, is of the utmost importance in the understanding of a new culture.
We both have experience teaching. We have taugth classes to young students in maths, physics and English. In a more technical sense, we have experience as programmers (Isma took part in an intership as a front and back end developer, and is currently in one aiding the Galileo project) and as data analysts (Juanjo is currently holding a position in charge of data analytics in a project for a local enterprise).Age

What else ...
Even though we’re new to Workaway, we’re both used to travelling and adapting to new environments.
We’re excited and truly grateful for the chance to join a project where we can learn, contribute, and grow through a meaningful experience, and hopefully connect with amazing people along the way.
We’re really looking forward to meeting our future host! Some more information

We stayed in Arusha for two weeks, helping at the school every morning from 8am to 2pm. We supported the teachers by writing notes for the kids, making posters, setting up tables for breakfast, helping paint a mural, and even building four shelves so the… read more
