Description
My Background in Education
I’ve been a special education teacher for over 20 years, and my work has always been a source of passion and fulfillment. I earned my master’s degree in the United States and now I decided to take a break from full-time teaching to discover new perspectives by exploring the world.
Love for Travel and Cultural Exchange
Traveling is one of my greatest joys—I’ve visited the U.S., Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures, and in Taiwan I often chat with international travelers and sometimes even invite them home for a home-cooked meal so they can experience local hospitality.
Experience Working With People With Special Needs
During my time studying in the U.S., I worked as a tutor for students with special needs (autistic child)and spent seven days assisting at a recreational camp for adults with disabilities. I genuinely enjoy being around children and have strong professional training in special education.
Comfort With Outdoor Work
I grew up in a rural farming village, so I’m very comfortable with physical outdoor work, soil, and sunshine—though I try my best to avoid getting sunburned. I also enjoy reading, hiking, and having meaningful conversations with people.
Family Life and Independence
I’m a mother of three boys who are close in age. They are now independent teenagers who do well academically and help with household chores, which allows me the freedom to travel and experience life in different places.
Previous Work-Exchange Experience
I once completed a two-week work exchange at an international restaurant in Taiwan, and I truly loved the experience. Now, I’m hoping to try a work exchange abroad. While in Taiwan, I met many solo female European helpers and travelers, and they inspired me to explore Europe on my own journey.
What I Can Offer as a Helper
I can cook basic meals—raising three kids has taught me the essentials—though I’m still gaining confidence in cooking for people from different cultures. I’m very comfortable helping in households, especially in places with children or where general chores are needed. While I can be a little shy at times, I’m mostly warm, friendly, and easygoing.
Looking Forward
I’m excited to meet new people, learn new skills, and contribute wherever I can. I look forward to meaningful connections and new adventures through Workaway.
