  • Description

To be updated soon. We are a bilingual couple proficient in English and Afrikaans, adept at self-sufficiency and decent cooks.
Hein is currently between contracts and available for standard Workaway hours. While financial constraints limit our ability to accept abroad invitations, we're enthusiastic about exploring destinations not listed on our profile where our skills could be beneficial. We're also eager to acquire new skills for long-term projects.
Anthony works remotely, necessitating a stable internet connection and workspace during office hours. He's open to volunteering during early evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Securing a long-stay visa for South Africans in Europe poses challenges, typically requiring an invitation from an NGO or organization involved in heritage or cultural preservation.

    Anthony:

With extensive experience in Print, Packaging, and Graphic Design, I've held roles ranging from IT support to team leadership, prepress specialization, graphic design, product photography, data capturing, and training within the FMCG printing plate production industry. In recent years, I've worked as a freelance creative and contract-based remote worker and media assistant.
Currently working remotely, my availability for standard volunteer hours may vary. I typically work regular office hours during the week and can only attend to volunteer duties during early mornings, early evenings, public holidays, and weekends. Due to the nature of my work as a digital nomad, we cannot accept invitations where a stable internet connection and suitable office space are unavailable.
My interests include medicinal plants, cooking, and vineyards. Proficient in street and urban photography, I excel in photo post-processing, colour grading, and image manipulation.
I've volunteered in various capacities, from photography at orphanages to managing a B&B in Namibia. I'm keen to broaden my skill set beyond computers, seeking opportunities in marketing, maintenance, and physical tasks. While engaged in remote work and freelance projects, I'm actively pursuing permanent remote positions with fixed salaries, among other endeavours.

    Hein:

As a South African with a passion for travel, nature, and animals, I've had diverse experiences. I worked with a Carnival team in the US for nine months, erecting and dismantling rides while also operating ticket booths and rides.
Following that, I spent four years with Tesco in the UK, enhancing their store displays across Scotland, England, and Wales as a merchandiser.
Upon returning to South Africa, I ventured into self-employment, specializing in handyman work such as flooring, screening, levelling, and cabinet making. Additionally, I managed maintenance at a Crèche, ensuring safety and handling repairs and renovations during school hours, with more extensive projects tackled during weekends.
While certified in working at heights and fire fighting, I prefer to avoid extreme heights due to physical strain, especially in severe weather. I am also certified in Level 1 First Aid, adding to my skill set in ensuring safety in various work environments.
I enjoy hands-on work, whether it involves creating, repairing, or building. Previous contracts have included driving with a code 10 license, delivering hazardous chemicals, and working at a frozen meal company.

  • Age

  • What else ...

Our hobbies include hiking, cycling, walking, exploring forgotten locations, swimming and some herbology. We occasionally taken photos for eGGSA in old forgotten, or lost cemeteries for genealogy indexing purposes when we come across them. eGGSA captures data from headstones and tombs from burial sites, indexing the information for genealogy research.

Love working with animals, but also find satisfaction in enabling people with transfer of skills, by assisting or helping them, acquiring new skills ourselves, and have the opportunity for some cultural exchange in the process. We have a strong work ethic, but each of us has his own strengths to suit a number of positions, entirely on the opposite spectrum of each other. We do enjoy working together on projects when the opportunity presents itself.
