Description
Hey There :)!
I’m 27 and originally from Scotland, and I’ve been working as an electrician since 2017. For the past almost two years, I’ve stepped away from routine life to travel through Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia — easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Experiencing different cultures, meeting people from all walks of life and seeing how others live has been something that genuinely motivates and excites me.
Travelling has made me far more appreciative of the world — not just the incredible places, but the people in it. I’ve seen both the beauty and the challenges that many face, and I’ve been especially inspired by the kindness, resilience and positivity people show despite difficult circumstances. It’s a big part of why I’ve always wanted to volunteer — to give something back and contribute in whatever way I can, big or small.
I get a lot of happiness from simple things: good food, good company and being outdoors. I love cooking and enjoy spending time in the kitchen, especially when it’s shared. I’ve always loved animals and grew up around them — and while travelling, the stray dogs I met definitely never went hungry and often ended up as my little companions for the day! I’m also very family-oriented, with lots of young nieces and nephews back home who I absolutely adore.
Nature is a huge part of what drives me too. You’ll usually find me hiking, swimming, camping, chasing waterfalls or exploring somewhere new. I’m always up for an adventure and enjoy getting involved in anything hands-on.
Through my work as an electrician, I’m used to practical tasks, problem-solving and getting stuck in. I’m reliable, hardworking and adaptable, and happy to help wherever needed — whether that’s physical work, helping around the house, cooking, supporting with children, caring for animals, or just being an extra pair of hands or a mind to brain storm with.
For me, Workaway is about much more than just travelling — it’s about genuine cultural exchange, learning from others, sharing experiences and being part of everyday life in a place. I’m really keen to connect with people, learn new skills, and contribute in a meaningful way while experiencing a destination in a more authentic and personal way.
I’m always keen to learn, get involved and share a few stories along the way.
This will be my first Workaway experience and I’m excited to get involved, help out where I can and meet some great people along the way.

More details about your skills
I’ve been working as a qualified electrician since 2017, so I’m very comfortable with hands-on work, problem solving and figuring things out as I go. I’ve got experience with maintenance, using tools and helping out with general repairs, and I’m always happy to get involved with practical tasks when needed.
That said, I’m especially interested in roles involving children and animals, as that’s where I feel most fulfilled.
I’ve grown up around animals my whole life, including dogs, rabbits, hamsters and chinchillas, and I’ve also done pet sitting while travelling. This has included looking after multiple dogs as well as a full farm with dogs, cats, goats, Highland cows, chickens, chicks and ducks. I genuinely love being around animals and am confident feeding, caring for and spending time with them.
I also have experience with children through family (cousins, nieces and nephews) and my friends kids, and I naturally get on really well with them. When I was 18, I completed a course in teaching children how to swim, which gave me experience in leading groups, communicating clearly and creating a fun, safe environment. Some of my favourite moments while travelling have been spending time with local kids — their energy, humour and curiosity always make my day.
Alongside this, I’m very adaptable and easy-going. I’m happy helping around the house with things like cleaning, cooking and general day-to-day tasks. I enjoy cooking and can comfortably prepare meals for others.
Overall, I’d say my biggest strengths are being reliable, hardworking, caring and easy to get along with. I’m always willing to learn, get involved and help out wherever I’m needed. :)
