  • Description

    Hey everyone! 😊
I’m Hanna, a 23-year-old girl raised in the beautiful Bavarian city of Munich. First a little bit about me: I am am currently in a gap year (or two whoops) between my bachelors and masters degree. I studied industrial engineering with a focus on sustainability and environment in Berlin, Germany's capital city. I really enjoyed my time there and I am super interested in the ecological part of my studies and definitly want to persue my masters degree in this field.

But for now, I’m still young and don’t want to focus only on my academic future. I’d really love to travel the world a little but more, but …shame on me… I never really used the Spanish languages thtat I learned in school. In general, I’m a really open-minded, curious, and communicative person, so I often wish I had more confidence in speaking Spanish.
As my sister is spending an exchange semester in Valaparaíso at the moment, I though it's the perfect time for me to travel to Chile and refresh my Spanish skills. I have about 2 months to travel to Chile and visit my sister, but obviously she does not have that much time for me as she is going to uni and needs to study.. I don‘t like traveling alone and to be honest I'm a bit scared of traveling solo in South America that's why i got the idea of voluteering. I've never been to any South American country, so I'm super excited to get to know a new culture. Luckily (and thanks to my wonderful parents) I have already visited quite a few countries outside of Europe but I never made it to South America so I am super excited to get to know the people and culture and everything that comes with it there.

At first, it wasn’t that easy to describe myself here, but with the help of my lovely friends and family, I found a few things I’d love to share about my personality: In general, I’m a very happy person. I love to laugh a lot and enjoy spending time with humorous and active people. I’m open to almost everything and love trying new things to create great memories together. Ideally, those activities include a bit of sports. Maybe it’s a hometown thing, but growing up so close to the Alps and lakes in Munich has definitely made me an outdoor person. But I also really enjoy playing card or board games with a great group of people.

That being said, not everything has to be fun and adventurous all the time. I also love having deep talks over tea (I don't like coffee xD), or going on long walks to chat about life. But sometimes I also need some 'me-time'. That’s when I put on some music, read, practice yoga or do some creative things like drawing, crocheting etc.

I’m really excited to see what this sign-up will bring me and who I’ll meet along the way!

Si quieres mi desciptión en espanol, solo preguntas y voy a intentar de traducir lo. ;)

I’m looking forward to improving/refreshing my Spanish skills, and I’m also happy to help others learn some German or English in return. I spent a Semester (5 months) studying in Florida, US. I know I still make mistakes but I‘d say I'm quite good and confident by now.

Gardening & animals - I love gardening, being outside and care for animals. My parents always say I have a green thumb (it's like tener buena mano para las plantas en espanol). One life goal of mine is to have a huge veggie and fruit garden where I can grow my own food.

DIY - I also like craft chores, I don't have a lot of experience but a lot of people tell me that I'm a quick learner. So wherever you need my help just show me what needs to be done and how and I'll manage to do it. :)

Cooking - I love cooking and enjoy trying new recipes from different cultures. I’d be happy to help with meals and kitchen tasks.

Organized & responsible – I'm reliable, like to keep things tidy.

Active lifestyle – I love being outdoors.

Driving license – I have a valid international driver’s license and feel confident driving if needed.

Language exchange – I’m a native German speaker and happy to help anyone learn or practice German or English while improving my Spanish.

What maybe also needs to be said is that especially with DIY things I'm a perfectionist, if that's a pro or con is your choice haha ;))

  • What else ...

I am looking for a volunteering option at the beginning of my time in Chile for about 2-3 weeks (approx
14.10.-6.11.). Then I will spend about a week in Uruguay with a friend. My time in Chile ends with 3 weeks of travel North to South with my parents and my sister. And then it's already time to get home to celebrate Christmas with my whole family :)
