Hi, I am Hanne!

I am 25 years old. I have a warm and open-minded soul. I have been a nature-and animal lover all my life, and am passionate about outdoor sports including snowboarding, surfing, and downhill mountain biking. I would like to give these parts of me more space to breathe, to be more myself, with people who work to be able to live, not live to be able to work. I've lived in Brussels my entire life, and I am grateful for having grown-up in a wealthy country, yet I feel that I cannot find my place here. I am struggling with the normalised ways of living in a high-paced and, in my opinion, fake society, where connection of any kind is lost; with nature, with others, and with the true self.

I have decided to embark on a journey to connect more with nature and likeminded people, to gain life experience, learn new skills, and maybe a new language.

More details about my language interests
It's been a dream of mine to become fluent in Spanish. I am also open to learn other languages. I believe speaking other people's language is a huge plus when trying to connect with people, and I love learning new things. I learn really fast in an environment where I am surrounded by native speakers. My mother tongue is Dutch, and I am able to teach it as well. If I refresh some theory, I am able to teach English, as my level is close to that of a native speaker (also when it comes to writing skills). I am pretty fluent in French, yet struggle with the grammatical rules myself, so I wouldn't trust myself teaching French :)

Skills:
- Sociable (I can socialise with virtually anyone)
- Good with animals (grew up with cats, a dog, and 2 chickens; now I am a cat mom of a 10y/o FIV cat)
- Naturally good with children (>3y/o)
- Creative (I like drawing, yet I consider myself creative in my way of thinking in general)
- Green thumb (almost 20 plants are happily living in my small apartment)
- Communication (open, direct, polite)
- Organisation (student representative, student counsel, university Skiteam, student association)
- Common sense (I can take care of household tasks going from doing laundry to small reparations in the house, such as changing the shower head, for example)
- Lab skills, but I doubt they will be of use in the context of a workaway?
- Fast learner (give me a (video) tutorial and I will learn)
