Description
Hi! I’m Francesco, an Italian engineer currently taking a break from my career to travel, explore new places and experience a different way of living.
I’m a curious and practical person. I enjoy building, fixing and understanding how things work, and I have experience with mechanical and electrical projects, DIY, tools and problem-solving. I’m also comfortable with technology, basic electronics and hands-on work. I’m not afraid of getting my hands dirty and I’m always happy to learn something new.
Outside of work, I love being outdoors: hiking, camping, mountains, the sea and simply discovering places away from the usual tourist routes. I also enjoy meeting people, sharing experiences, cooking together and having a good laugh.
I’m travelling because I want to step outside my comfort zone, learn from different cultures and people, and take the time to understand what I want to do next in life. For me, Workaway is not just a way to find a place to stay, but an opportunity to contribute with my skills while becoming part of a local community.
I’m open-minded, adaptable and willing to help with both practical tasks and everyday life. In return, I’d love to learn new skills, hear people’s stories and experience places from a more local perspective. -

More details about your skills
I’m an engineer with several years of experience working with mechanical and electrical systems, both professionally and through personal projects. I’m a practical person and I enjoy understanding how things work, finding solutions and building or fixing things with my hands.
My main skills include mechanical assembly, maintenance, basic electrical and electronic work, troubleshooting, using hand and power tools, and working with technical drawings and measurements. I also have experience with automation, motors, sensors and basic programming/PLC-related systems.
I’m comfortable with DIY projects, repairs and practical tasks, and I’m generally quick to learn when I’m faced with something new. I’m also happy to help with physical work, gardening, painting, construction or general maintenance, even when it’s outside my professional background.
I’m used to working independently, but I also enjoy working as part of a team. I’m responsible, adaptable and not afraid of getting my hands dirty. Most importantly, I like learning new skills and I’m always willing to give things a try. -

What else ...
I’m always curious to try new things and I’m especially interested in activities that allow me to connect with the local culture.
During my travels, I’d love to learn how to surf, spend more time outdoors and try local sports. In Thailand, for example, I’d really like to learn Muay Thai and experience the discipline and culture behind it.
I enjoy hiking, camping, exploring nature, swimming and being around the sea. I also like cooking, having long conversations, playing cards and board games, and sharing simple moments with other people.
I’m the kind of person who will usually say “why not?” when someone suggests trying something new. I’m travelling with an open mind and I’d love to come back home with a few new skills, stories and friendships. -
