  • Description

Hello! My name is Flora and I’m a recent graduate from London in the UK. I studied sustainable agriculture and crop science, and I’m about to start a PhD in plant science this September. Before I am locked into another four years of studying, I am spending some time travelling. I’m really excited to meet people, share experiences, and learn from local communities!

I have a strong interest in sustainable food systems and agriculture. I would love the chance to learn more about different growing methods and farming traditions around the world. I really enjoy working outdoors and being close to nature. In my free time I love hiking; some of my favourite travel experiences have involved multi-day treking, including hiking in the Albanian Alpes, walking the Camino de Santiago, and the West Highland Way.

This will be my first experience with Workaway, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to learn from hosts and contribute wherever I can !

More details about my language interests
I would be very happy to help with teaching English. Although I do not have formal experience teaching English as a foreign language, I do have teaching experience and feel confident in my ability to support students in learning and practising English. I am also very interested in learning any and all other languages. I have basic German and am currently in the process of learning Mandarin, so any help in learning either of these languages would be very welcome!

  • More details about your skills

I am a recent graduate with a master’s degree in crop science and agriculture, and I’ll be starting a PhD in plant science this September. Through my studies I’ve developed strong knowledge of gardening, crop cultivation, and sustainable agriculture practices. I love working outdoors and would be very happy helping with gardening, planting, harvesting, or general land care. I’m particularly interested in sustainable food systems and would enjoy learning more about different growing methods around the world.
I also have experience working with children as for the past year I have been working as a teaching assistant, supporting children with special educational needs. I taught English, maths, and science in a very multicultural school where many students spoke English as a second language. This experience which taught me how to communicate clearly with children from diverse backgrounds. I’d be very happy helping with childcare, teaching English or any other educational activities.
I’m also very keen to learn new skills, so I’d be happy to help with any jobs that need doing and try my hand at something new. I’m really looking forward to sharing experiences, helping out where I can, and learning from my hosts along the way!
