  • Description

    Hi,

    My name is Fiona Paladini.
I am 56 years old, fit and healthy.
I am not on a holiday away, I am a nomad, yet not digital.

As the cat has nine lives, I have had many, and still have a few left. Or so it seems.

15 months ago, I left a comfortable life, 9 years in Normandy, and have been on the road since, staying with friends, family or as a volunteer. Wherever I am, I serve, share and care. I live on a narrow budget, gratefully and minimalist-ically.

Instead of going back into a "normal job, life has taken me on another path, which is probably the one I really wanted, although it has been harder and more solitary than I expected!!
I sometimes feel like I am locked in a sufi tale, with crumbs of meaning along the way home. I have many stories to tell !

I hold a diploma in economics and political science from Sciences Po Paris, one of France’s most prestigious institutions, and I have earned a revenue from a variety of positions : management consultant, interpreter-translator, director of international relations for a city, director of a port-center. I have enjoyed many aspects of my career, but have never found fulfillment in “the system”.

I have also directed a home for the homeless in Cape Town, taught Spanish in an international highschool and English to recovering heroin addicts in the Ukraine, preached in Guatemala, served as a waitress in Paris, and recently crossed the Atlantic on an 11 ft sailboat.

I have a daughter, 20, and a son, 22. They are both loving, conscious, and brilliant, and now financially independent. He is about to start working towards a PhD in quantum physics. She is a model and artist. My professional life was aimed mainly at giving them a comfortable and interesting lifestyle, which I have financed myself. We have lived in South Africa, France, New Caledonia, Belgium, California.

I have been practicing yoga for 18 years, and 6 years ago I completed a 200hr Teacher Training in India, after which I taught yoga various times a week, for 5 years, in Normandy France. It contributed to my revenue.
I practice Vipassana meditation, and give good massages.

My father was from Argentina, my mother is English, and I grew up and studied in Paris. I speak English, French and Spanish fluently, have a good command of Italian, and am improving in Portuguese.

I am a methodical house cleaner and happy dishwasher.
I really love to cook, for you or for the crowds, and the food is appreciated !
I have taken care of my own vegetable garden for 3 years, harvested our apples, pears and kiwis. I have some notions of permaculture, and want to learn so much more about plants.
I am an organised, efficient, creative and encouraging member of a team.
I am genuinely interested in people, and pay attention to detail.
I am both very sociable and solitary, fun and serious.
I read a lot, and love to write.
I also draw, but that’s new, and I would love to expand that part of me.
I hope to dance and sing more.
I love music, and really don’t like mindless noise.

I smile easily and laugh loud.

I have been a spiritual seeker and somewhat of a mystic for 30 years, that's a story that starts in Senegal. I love to delve into philosophies, sacred texts, and spiritual teachings - learning to love, to live, and yearning to see and operate beyond the veil, following the thread of light. There has been an acceleration over the past 3-4 years, in which I have been taken on a path of healing and peeling, to recover my self and soul.

I would like to serve in an environment that is mindful of Mother Earth and all of life.
I would like to connect with like-minded, like-hearted people.
I want to be close to nature, hear birdsong, and cuddle animals.

I love to connect with children.
I am very interested in pedagogy and alternative education, and would like to use this time to enrich my teaching-guiding abilities, and further understand youth, since they are our best hope for the future.
Children easily take to me, and I easily to them.

    I follow a vegan diet.
I have found it impossible in our modern society to eat meat, fish or dairy in a way that honours both life and death.
    Hence the vegan choice.

I swim laps, and when the waters are calm and warm, I love to paddle board.
I am not certain about what I want for the future. I have had many dreams come and go. I seem to be deconstructing at the moment.
    For now I am on a road-school.

I have a faithful twenty year old Mini I call the Yellow Submarine.

Voilà. I hope this brief description awakens a desire to know me.
