Description
Hi, I’m Finnbar.
I was raised bilingually in Amsterdam by an American father and a Dutch mother. I studied Physics, and now I work as a data scientist for the Dutch electricity grid operator, where I develop thermal models for critical grid components such as transformers.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about music — I play guitar in a band — and I love being creative, playful, active, and recreating in nature. I enjoy learning and experiencing new things: meeting people, discovering different cultures, and picking up new languages.
I’m currently on a six-month sabbatical to travel until May 1st. I started in Mexico, and now, I’m in Guatamala. Although I’m having a great time here with fellow travelers, I’m also looking for a more traditional, less touristy experience — something that lets me connect more deeply with local life. -

More details about your skills
I’m a social and adaptable person who enjoys being around people and contributing to a positive atmosphere. I’ve lived in large student houses with up to 14 housemates, and I’ve also worked at surf camps where I helped organize activities and create a friendly, welcoming environment for guests.
Professionally, I studied physics and now work as a Data Scientist, so I’m analytical and quick to learn new things. I also like to use my creative side by coming up with new ideas for events and ways to make things more engaging or fun.
I’m a native English speaker and have experience tutoring students, which taught me how to communicate clearly and be patient when explaining things. On a more practical side, I’m active, enjoy being outdoors, and don’t mind getting my hands dirty. I’d say I’m quite handy and always willing to help with whatever needs doing.
Overall, I enjoy learning new skills, meeting new people, and contributing both practically and creatively wherever I can. -
