Description
Hi! I'm Fabio, an Italian traveler on a mission to explore Asia after an incredible year-long chapter in Australia. For the past 6 months, I’ve been backpacking around Southeast Asia, an experience that has made me even more adaptable, independent, and resourceful. A big highlight of this journey was traveling across the entirety of Vietnam by motorbike for 2 months!
I’m a firm believer in "learning by doing." After 12 months of road-tripping and working abroad, followed by my current Asian adventure, I’ve realized that the best part of traveling isn’t just seeing new places, but being part of a team and sharing skills. I’m reliable, energetic, and I always bring a positive "can-do" attitude to the table.
My Experience:
Workaway & Volunteering in Asia (Recent): Over the last 6 months, I have successfully participated in several volunteer projects across Southeast Asia. I spent time helping out in two different busy hostels—one in the Cameron Highlands (Malaysia) and another in Pai (Thailand). I also completed a Workaway project at a beach resort in Mui Ne (Vietnam). These experiences allowed me to sharpen my hospitality skills, manage daily tasks independently, and connect with people from all over the world.
Hospitality & People: Before exploring Asia, I spent a full year working in Australian hospitality. I’m experienced in F&B, guest relations, and handling busy environments with a smile.
Festivals & Events: I’ve been involved in several festivals across Queensland, helping with logistics and organization. I’m used to the energy of big events and I know how to stay focused and helpful in crowded, fast-paced settings.
The Road Trip & DIY Life: I lived in and maintained an old van (Ivano!) while traveling across Australia. This, combined with fixing and maintaining my motorbike in Vietnam, taught me solid DIY skills and how to be incredibly resourceful in any situation.
Volunteering with Kids: I’ve dedicated time to volunteering with children, which helped me develop great patience, responsibility, and the ability to organize creative activities.
Photography (Hobby): I have a passion for photography and content creation. I’d be happy to help you capture beautiful moments of your place or events for your social media. I travel with 3 cameras and a drone.
The Italian Kitchen: As a true Italian, I’m a passionate cook! I love organizing "Family Dinners" and preparing authentic, delicious plant-based meals for the crew and guests. -

What else ...
I’m originally from Italy, a land where food, community, and "la dolce vita" are at the heart of everything. After spending a life-changing year road-tripping and working across Australia, I’ve decided to bring my journey to Asia. I’m not just looking for beautiful landscapes; I’m looking for meaningful connections.
Why these destinations?
I’ve chosen destinations like Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia because I’m fascinated by the contrast between their ancient traditions and vibrant, modern energy. My goal is to slow down and experience the local way of life. After a year of "van life" in Australia, I've learned that the best travel stories aren't found in guidebooks, but in the people you meet and the help you can offer.
What I bring to the exchange:
I want to share my Italian heritage—not just through authentic cooking (I’m always ready to host a pasta night!), but through the values of hospitality and openness I grew up with. At the same time, I bring the practical "can-do" attitude I developed in the Australian outback. I’m here to learn, to photograph the beauty of your culture, and to be a reliable helping hand in your project. -
