Description
I grew up in Herefordshire, a quiet and rural part of the UK, where I spent a lot of time helping out on farms, looking after horses and other animals, and spending time with friends out in the fields.
Later, I went on to study engineering in Wales and really enjoyed the challenges that came with it. While studying there, I was drawn to setting up the course society with my friends, and we organised trips to museums and events across the UK. I enjoyed working as an ambassador to visiting guests at the university, and had fun competing in entrepreneur and design competitions throughout my time there.
I have always loved birds and photography, and especially the last few months I’ve spent hours each week observing egrets, herons, and swans at local bird refuges. One of the best things about living in the UK is the wealth of wildlife we have here, and some of my favourites—like the red kite—are found across the islands.
After five years in project management and working in a global company, I would love to continue being around practical, friendly people who enjoy working together and creating positive change.

More details about your skills
Hands-on & Renovation Skills
Basic carpentry (measuring, cutting, fixing wood structures) My experience is largely from design projects creating scale model of planes/drones but I used to do some woodwork as part of a summer camp at an activity centre in Herefordshire, replace aged wooden walkways to different areas of the camp.
Painting and decorating (walls, furniture, touch-ups) Would regularly do some paint and redecorating for family homes and comfortable prepping rooms for painting (covering, cleaning and protecting electricals etc.) and layering coats for a good finish.
Following instructions and learning new practical skills quickly. I pride myself on adapting well to new environments and teams.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Regular house cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, mopping, bathrooms, kitchens) I do this regularly for my elderly grandparents to help them out maintaining a clean house.
Gardening & Outdoor Work
Lawn mowing and strimming
Weeding, planting, and watering plants
Pruning bushes or hedges
General upkeep of outdoor areas (sweeping paths, clearing leaves, etc.)
All of the above I have done regularly recently for the last two months and previously over the summer periods. I find gardening quite satisfying and am comfortable with a range of activities related to it. There are of course specific plants I am not familiar with, but I am eager to learn more about growing, cultivating and harvesting vegetables/herbs or caring for flowers etc.
Technical & Computer Skills
Confident using everyday software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs/Sheets)
Comfortable with email, scheduling tools, and online communication platforms
Able to research and troubleshoot problems online as required.
Full understanding of file management, data entry, and organising digital information
Personal Qualities
Reliable and willing to get stuck into different tasks, I am looking for new challenges and to learn.
Practical, hands-on attitude. Growing up in Herefordshire, I definitely had a lot of opportunities to get involved with hands-on activities i.e. animal care, outdoor centres (Quad biking, paintball, hiking etc.)
Enjoy working outdoors as well as indoors. I love being outdoors and don't mind the rain wind if I am doing something fun, and I'll always bring a good waterproof with me.

I love to go hiking or climbing in the hills and mountains of the UK and Europe.
Skiing is my favourite sport but I have enjoyed some coasteering in the summers recently.
Any opportunity to go to the cinema I will take it, I love movies and can talk for hours about my favourites.

I spent a wonderful month with her and am very grateful that she gave me the opportunity to stay with her over the Christmas period. From the very beginning, she was welcoming, open, and easy to communicate with. Julie genuinely cares about the experience of her Workawayers and goes… read more
