Description
We love the environment and working in nature, as well as caring for it and animals. We are motivated by working for a purpose and helping both people and planet. We are keen to learn about Japan, its culture, and learn about people and their lives. Japanese food, music, and history facinate us and we are excited to learn more and experience it.
Both of us have worked without pay on projects we are passionate about, motivated by our want to acheive a goal for good. Laura interned at a zoo full-time for a year, and has taken conservation trips previously to Sri Lanka and Tenerife, as well as volunteering for local community and sustainable food initiatives.
Evan has volunteered full-time for a year helping the homeless and other vulnerable groups. He has also taken a trip to Mexico to build shelters for families, and volunteered for 6 months doing practical enviromental conservation work. His current work involves helping international students from all over the world, but particularly in East Asia.
We love to go walking and hiking, to experience the world around us, to find some peace, and for conversation. We also enjoy playing board games, and Laura loves taking pictures of insects.

More details about your skills
I (Laura) have a degree in 'Wildlife, Ecology, and Conservation science' and a masters in Science Communication. I have more than a years experience volunteering as a zookeeper, and almost 2 years experience engaging students with sustainability (UN SDG's) as well as some experience with presenting in media. I have good field work skills in field data collection and physical conservation work. I'm always happy to muck in, whatever the weather. I have experience in social media, writing, and some experience working with children. During college, I started my own pet-sitting business where I cared for a variety of pets.
I (Evan) have a degree in Philosophy, almost 3 years experience working with international students, and almost 6 years experience working in the charity sector in leadership and operations management roles. This included practical help with gardening and maintenance tasks, as well as caring for others and solving their problems. I also play the guitar and sing, and excel at listening at others and instilling calm. I'm good at problem solving, and knowledge aquisition (particularly those subjects I care about). I have experience with building relationships with people with many viewpoints and differing values, and acheiving projects together.
