Hello there! My name is Emily, I'm an academic researcher on human rights (legal anthropology). I am remarkably work-lite right now, with an unbelievably generous flexibility for the first year of my contract :)

I have various work experiences. Professionally I've taught undergrad sociology and briefly worked with politicians and lawyers. I've also been a bartender and a waitress before, worked fast food, cleaned and made beds, worked in a bookshop, did check ins for a campsite, mucked out chickens and goats, etc. I am comfortable with most garden power tools, and can manage light touch home DIY independently. I take orders super well and am a quick, humble learner.

I am hoping to use Workaway as an opportunity to meet a variety of different people and to learn more about life and culture. I'm incredibly happy to spend my time writing, hiking, and thinking about the world, but I'd also love to take more inspiration from the new surroundings and people around me. I'm really open to making friends and getting to know people.

I deleted my personal socials last year and I feel a lot better for it. Always happy to answer any questions x

Writing, painting, and other arts projects! I enjoy cooking, and can prepare meals for large numbers. I'm apt with technology, I used to video edit, and can help teach skills patiently. I have experience tutoring and looking after children, with and without special needs. I like working with my hands, and enjoy working outside.
