Hi, my name is Emiel. I’m a curious and open-minded person who enjoys learning through experience and meaningful exchanges with people from different backgrounds. I value simple living, shared work, and taking the time to understand local ways of life. People often describe me as calm, considerate, and respectful of personal space and daily routines.

I’m currently spending four months in Asia to learn from local cultures and explore a more grounded, adventurous side of myself. I began my journey in Thailand, where I spent one month living and training at a Muay Thai gym on Koh Yao Noi. That experience helped me build discipline, patience, and a deeper connection with my surroundings. For my second month, I’m now looking to spend time on a farm, learning from daily life on the land.

At this stage of my travels, I’m hoping to learn more about local and eco-farming while contributing to projects that support community and sustainability. I have a strong interest in smallholder farming through some of my work as a consultant for NGOs, and while my hands-on experience is still developing, I’m very motivated to learn directly from hosts and local communities. I also enjoy thinking along on broader, strategic topics if that’s useful.

I’m a reliable and hard worker, happy to help with physical tasks, daily routines, and general upkeep. I learn quickly, adapt easily, and enjoy contributing wherever I’m needed. Caring for animals would be a very welcome addition.

My background combines hospitality and development-focused work, shaping my practical and people-oriented approach to new environments.

Working and studying hospitality, I developed an appreciation for good produce, ingredients, and food, as well as the importance of caring for people. This experience built reliability, teamwork, and comfort with kitchen work, food preparation, and daily routines.

During my work as a consultant, I supported NGOs with projects related to local communities and smallholder farming. While this was mainly strategic work, it gave me insight into sustainable development and rural livelihoods, and sparked a strong interest in learning practical, on-the-ground farming skills.

I’m comfortable with physical work, cleaning and upkeep, and basic DIY tasks through experience in my own home and garden. I’ve lived both independently and in shared housing, and value clear communication and shared responsibility.

I speak native Dutch and fluent English, with basic French and Spanish, and I enjoy learning languages through daily interaction. I’m patient and happy to help with language practice if useful.

Overall, I bring a strong work ethic, curiosity, and willingness to learn, and I enjoy contributing consistently to projects focused on sustainability and community.
