My name is Ellen, I’m 25 years old and from Sweden, but I’ve been on exchange in Canada for the past year. I am a calm, positive and independent person who loves spending time in nature and with animals, especially horses. I'm looking for an opportunity to contribute to a farm surrounded by nature, where I can learn new skills and help out in any way I can! I'm hardworking and enjoy hands-on tasks. I want, in a way, to disconnect a bit from todays technological society.

I have been around horses for most of my life. In 2019, I started working at a stable that was a combination of a riding school, showjumping facility, and private boarding stable. My work mainly involved taking care of the horses, handling general maintenance around the farmyard, and fixing things as needed. I also managed their website.
After working there full-time for two years, I started university, pursuing a master’s degree in chemical engineering. I continued working weekends and summers at the stable alongside my studies.
This school year (2024/2025), I have been on exchange in Kingston, Canada. It’s been an amazing experience, but I miss being around animals and doing more hands-on work. I also want to explore more of western Canada, and Workaway seemed like the perfect opportunity.
Additionally, I’ve been fortunate to grow up with relatives who own small farms, where I’ve helped out wherever needed.
