Hi there - James and Ella here!

We’re a British couple currently traveling around Australia in a 4x4 an a rooftop tent. We have been slowly traveling since January, journeying through Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide (plus all the wonderful stops along the way), up the middle and have now arrived in WA.

*We’re looking for opportunities to:*
- Meet new people who live in the areas we hope to visit.
- Connect with communities we stay in a little more deeply than ‘passing through’ in the car.
- Learn new skills.
- Help people with projects or hobbies, giving us a little purpose and structure to our stay and our lives while on the road.

*A bit about us:*
We both share a love for adventure, people and the outdoors. We met while both working at a grassroots community music festival, and since then, we've continued seeking out opportunities to get stuck into projects, events and moments/spaces that bring people together.

In our pre-travel lives, Ella lived and worked in London, supporting vulnerable young people involved in gangs. James lived in Manchester and worked as a renewable energy engineer. We’re both busy, social people who usually have a personal project or two on the go. For Ella, that usually involves community-based volunteering - like leading shifts at her local soup kitchen. For James, who has a big passion for music, projects involve running and organising dance music events in Manchester, hosting radio shows, playing and making music with friends etc.

Our life-on-the-road looks a little different; you’ll often find us on a hike, surfing, finding a swimming hole, or on a trail run (although James might be more enthusiastic about this last one than Ella). In our down time, we like to play games, chat, listen to an album or two, play music, and cook delicious food. We have also worked in Australia in demolitions and home renovations, so we're comfortable with using basic tools, painting, decorating, moving heavy things, and getting our hands dirty!

More details about my language interests
James and Ella are both native English speakers, but have a passion for Spanish language. At the end of 2025, Ella spent 2 months traveling in Spain, staying with a family she found on Workaway, to work towards fluency (now a comfortable B2 level). James is an enthusiastic A1/A2 level and is keen to practice. So if you're also learning, we'd be up for Spanish-speaking days or other ways to practice together!
