Description
Hello, my name is Charlotte and I’m 24 years old from the north of England and beginning my journey of travelling. I’m very excited to see the world, learn about different cultures and connect with others. I’m starting my travelling journey with my friend Rhiannon; we both have an international jiu jitsu even in buenos Aires and decided it would be the perfect opportunity to travel before and after this. I began my journey of jiu jitsu, four years ago and it has been a transformational journey. Both physically and mentally jiu jitsu has taught me a lot about myself, I’m very resilient and open to self-development and growth. Jiu jitsu has improved my confidence and fitness, I am very physically active and enjoy going to the gym, going on walks, yoga, and dancing. All of this has deepened the connection I have with myself.
I’m a very creative person; I did performing arts for a lot of years and have transitioned into pursuing writing now. Seeing the world and writing about it, writing about my feelings and imagination is a very cathartic process for me. I write stories and poetry and feel my time travelling will be valuable to my writing.
I also find joy in drawing and painting; I like doing hands on DIY tasks. I have on occasion helped my Dad out at his work, he works as a joiner making fireplaces for people, he’s brought me through the process and though it was physically demanding I found it very rewarding. With this I have a little experience, sanding, drilling, and lifting heavy oak beams. I give each task I commit myself to my all and my journey in jitsu has proven that. I try to see the positive in life and look for the beauty in the world.
I find so much joy being in nature, I would love to experience living surrounded by nature maybe even off grid. I feel very connected to nature, enjoy meditating especially surrounded by trees, flowing rivers, colourful flowers and the sound of birds. Pink flowers and sunshine are two things that bring me such euphoria, and I cannot wait to explore the nature and scenery of the world. I would love to learn about your native plants and learn about foraging and identifying different plants.
I am also a big animal lover, I love horses, dogs, cats, and any farm animals. I am fond of pretty much every animal, maybe with the exception of crocodiles and spiders. Animals are so precious and deserve to be protected, any work with animals I would be keen to dive into. As a child I used to want to be a vet, until I realised I was more creatively inclined rather than scientifically. But my love for animals has never changed.
Since leaving university I have worked as a live in care professional, which has taught me a lot of skills. A lot of my job is taking care of my client’s home aswell, any volunteer work where household tasks is required I am used to doing this and know a person’s home must be treated with the utmost respect. My job as a care professional has shown me how I love connecting with people, hearing about other people’s stories and appreciating other people’s way of living. I think connection is so important for nurturing the human soul, this is one of the main reasons I’ve decided to go down the route of volunteering while travelling. I want to experience connecting with others and learning about different cultures on a deeper level and experience different ways people live. -

More details about your skills
I have experience in hospitality as I had worked in a bar while at university, I have a BA hons degree in drama and English literature and since leaving university I have gone into live in care work. I work with elderly people and live in their homes, maintaining their dignity and right to remain in their home while providing the care they need. I understand home pride and having lived in my clients homes I know the importance of respect. I am able to help with household duties such as cooking, ironing, cleaning, washing etc. I also have experience working with my Dad helping him with joinery, he’s showed me the process of making fireplace beams and I have been hands on in my approach to offering help. While helping my dad I learnt how to sand oak beams, drilling pilot holes, torching and lifting beams. This has given me a little bit of experience using construction tools like a power drill, sanding machines, and hammers. I am active and enjoy doing DIY hands on tasks. I have experience in performing arts and have worked as an entertainer at a holiday park. I am very creative and artistic and can both draw and paint. I am a quick and eager learner, and open to developing new skills and helping out where I’m needed.
