  • Description

    Hello,

Travelling and working remotely for the last ten years has given me experience and appreciation for many people and places around the world.

My work is at luxury eco lodges, and Heli ski lodges. At these lodges I am a server in fine dining, I also do housekeeping to a fine detailed standard. Also I work in the kitchen as prep, line, and dishwasher.
There is no job that “isn’t my job” and if I see something I will do it without being asked. I work very well on my own with proper instruction, also enjoying a job done as a team.

Over the last 14 years I have also worked in vineyards and orchards, maintaining and training the plants, harvesting, and working in the winter with rain and snow in the fall.

My work has also been as a wine shuttle driver, where I drove guests to wineries and was their tour guide as well, providing local knowledge of the area and wineries.

Living in Whistler, BC, I was a taxi driver for tourists and locals.

I grew up on a small hobby farm, with goats, chickens (I sold eggs to the neighbours when I was a young kid), horses, budgies, love birds, iguanas, rabbits, ferrets, cats, dogs, Guinea pigs, and cockatiels (not all at once but throughout my life). Presently I have one dog named penny who is a border collie blue healer whippet cross I found on a reservation 11 years ago.

Workaways have taken me to some lovely places, and overwhelming experiences. I volunteered at a cat sanctuary in Malaysia with 300 cats and ended up apartment sitting for the host who left and did a border run to Thailand while I looked after 25 cats in a one bedroom, 11th story apartment, bottle feeding new born sick street kittens every two hours 24/ hours a day.

Volunteering in Costa Rica brought me to jungle bungalows with a perverse host whom myself and other girls had to escape from. Also in Costa Rica I volunteered at a lovely yoga retreat in the jungle where I minded the grounds.
In Myanmar I volunteered in a village for the houseless, and sick people in their hospital.

I have also lived on a 150’ ft refurbished military transport vessel from 1944 at a fishing lodge near Alaska as deckhand for 101 days straight with no days off, fuelling and washing and driving skiffs, weighing fish and cleaning crab and hosting guests from the fishing lodge.

My skills are wide ranged, and I’m always looking to learn anything and everything.

My focus is learning new skills and language, sharing experiences, with focus on plants and permaculture, boating, animal care, and learning carpentry.

Let’s learn and grow together :)

  • More details about your skills

My experience is wide and varied:

My work experience primarily over the last 15 years has been in hospitality and tourism. I work at remote wilderness lodges across Canada, have done so in Australia and New Zealand as well. These roles include serving, hostessing, house keeping, reception, managing, and cooking.
I have many years experience driving boats, worked as a deck hand, a fish packer, a taxi driver, a wine tour driver and hostess, and years working in an organic vineyard, and in a kiwi orchard working with plants, also gardening and farm maintenance.
I have my lifetime of caring for all kinds of animals from birds, dogs, cats, horses, fish, ferrets, rodents, goats, chickens, lizards, insects, amphibians, and wolf dogs.
I have a passion for art and music, I enjoy playing didgeridoo, and carry a harmonica which I don’t know how to play.
I am really good with kids, as I am a big kid myself.
I love cooking, it brings me joy to cook for others.
