Description

We are Charlie and Alice, a 28 year old couple from the UK who love to travel! In August 2024 we took a career break from our office jobs to travel full time. Since then we have had some amazing experiences across 6 months in Asia and 10 months in Central and South America. We are excited to collect more memories and experiences in our next chapter of travel with Workaway. We want to return to our favourite places and immerse ourselves in the culture and get to know the people even more!

Charlie's working background is in logistics, planning trucks and shipments into, out of and around Europe. He also has loads of experience with animals, having grown up with cats and even working in a cattery!

Alice's working background is in mechanical engineering with a lot of her work centering in nuclear energy. Before that, she worked in hospitality in restaurants and bars.

We both love the outdoors, learning new skills and especially trying new food! We hope that through Workaway we can do all of these things and more. We are especially interested in learning more about farming as it is something we would love to do more of at home! We are really excited for what this next chapter of travel has in store for us!

Charlie's previous work experience has been in logistics, organising deliveries and speaking to customers across Europe. Using computers and typical microsoft software daily. He has also worked at a cattery, having extensive experience working with and caring for cats. This was also customer facing, taking payments, making connections with customers and trained in administering medication to cats.

Alice's previous work experience has been in mechanical engineering with a focus in nuclear energy. She used various computer systems daily to aid with tasks. She also has experience in hospitality, having worked in bars/restaurants while studying. She has great organisational skills and is a fast learner. She works well both independently, in groups and in customer facing roles which are all skills developed while working in a variety of roles and industries.

Although our professional work has usually been indoors, we love gardening and, before travelling, would spend a lot of time in the garden planting, weeding and maintaining the area!

We both have all of the skills you need to run a house such as cooking and cleaning which we have picked up since moving away from home and living independently.

We are both native English speakers and are beginner levels in Spanish which we started to learn while travelling through South America.
