Description
I am a curious person who enjoys learning about new things as well as meeting new and different people from all walks of life. I like to stay active as much as I can, for years my work in restaurants has kept me moving and I try to take that momentum onto my time outside work. For many years I have been really career focused and in the recent past I have tried to step back and balance my life more with the leisure and self-development side.
I love the outdoors and nature, anything outside for fun and learning. Gastronomy is a passion of mine, working in the industry for me has become a journey of interminable stops discovering the layers that make up our food system. I am particularly interested in sustainable living and minimizing the human impact on our planet.
I also like reading (listening to many audiobooks to be honest), particularly books that have a deeper inquiry, philosophical or otherwise in them. I studied philosophy at University so I am always looking for meaning in life's every corner.
I truly enjoy experiencing new languages and new cultures as a window into the lives of other people in order to better understand them; one of the reasons that brought me to workaway!
I never say no to learning a new skill or doing something different that may be tough or turn some people away.
Of course I also enjoy spending quality time with my friends, taking the time to go out for a nice meal, camping with my dog and many other things!

I am very interested in linguistics and the way different languages interreact with each other. I am very happy to share what I know abut English and Spanish with others. I am also interested in refining my French and continuing my German exploration as well as open to more languages!

I have worked as a tutor during university and continue to enjoy teaching as well as learning in particular language (English, Spanish and some French). I've worked in the restaurant and food industry for over a decade in several capacities; so I am very comfortable working around food and the kitchen. Working manually outside is something that I really like to do; growing up I learned it from my father and over the years I've done many DIY and landscaping projects in the different homes I have lived in. I also have some orchard skill as well as basic fermenting and distilling skills from my last job. My biggest skill is strong and clear communication coupled with self motivation to figure things out and get the job done.

I am an easy going individual that understands how to read a situation and when different types of discourse are appropriate- I highly regard respect for other people. I am a very teachable person, with a high energy work ethic. I would love to be an asset to the host that finds my skills useful and develop-able. I would ideally like to learn a new trade or develop a skill I already have while truly helping someone out; and in a way that allows for my learning/experiencing of a new culture and/or language.
