Hi! My name is Cate:) I am a hard working, organized, creative born and raised in Southern California, right outside of Los Angeles.

My travel journey began the summer of 2023 when I backpacked around Europe for 6 weeks with a friend. I loved meeting new people and experiencing different cultures and ways of life! I definitely caught the bug and now understand the true highs and lows of travel and am looking to continue learning more about myself through new destinations.

I've spent the last two summers working at a summer camp in Central Maine, USA and my life has been transformed! Being surrounded by a community steeped in 75+ years of tradition, friendships and love has taught me so much about what is truly import in life: truly connecting with those around you!

I am coming up on my 25th birthday and I'm looking forward to more adventures. This time on my own! I am aiming to travel around New Zealand for about a month in hopes of getting outside of my comfort zone, connecting with nature, and learning about a culture so far from what I am used to!

Some of my personal interests include listening and creating music, baking, movies and television, and crocheting! In general, I just love to create things for others to enjoy:)

Living in a heavily populated city/suburban area for most of my life has me wanting to gain more experience with animas, gardening/farming, and everything the outdoors has to offer.

I am a very passionate person and I love to witness other people’s passion! I think learning about new perspectives and life paths is so important and inspires me to live my life to the fullest!

On a professional level, I have a few years of management experience under my belt. I am very organized, a clear communicator, and I love to create an positive environment for others to reach their full potential.

Facilitating a summer camp program this last year has reignited my love for children. Planning activities and creating a fun environment for them to enjoy childhood how it should be brought me so much joy. Creating a safe space for them to play and express themselves has been very fulfilling and I would like to seek out more opportunities like that.

I participated a lot in the arts growing up so I have tons of experience with not only performance but all of the production work that goes into it as well. Being a stage manager not only taught me how to stay organized and connected to those around me, but more importantly how to stay calm in the face of disaster!

I also love to bake ! I make a mean brown butter chocolate chip cookie with the perfect balance of sweet and salty:) I am always looking to learn new baking techniques and recipes! Baking for me is not only a creative outlet, its self care and a way to take care of those around me and make them feel special.

Most importantly, I am a quick learner! The reason I am on workaway is to learn new things, so I am open to what ever the journey brings along the way:)

I have some experience with basic carpentry through building sets for theater projects.

I have worked with children through various summer camps and babysitting.

I have a lot of experience with dogs and cats as my mom runs a pet care business which I help out with when I'm home, but I am interested in gaining experience with horses and other critters alike:)

I am a pretty clean and organized person and enjoy household tasks and helping out where I can!
