Hi, guys. I'm Caroline, a university student from China, majoring in Khmer.
I believe travelling to remote corners of the world is a beautiful way to understand it. There, you get to see how people on the other side of the globe live, think and communicate in their own ways, tending to their work and daily rountines.
I come from a small town in northwest China. After entering university, I've come to realise how diverse the world is. Life is far more than just academics, and there are countless opprtunities out there waiting to be discovered. I long to witness how so many others live in intersting, heartfelt ways.
For me, simple simple sightseeing is not enough. The best way to travel is to immerse myself fully in a place and see the world through the local perspective. That is why I want to join Workaway.

~Language abilities
I am a native Chinese speaker and can communicate fluently in English. Khmer is my major, and I also know some basic German words. I am passionate about language learning and happy to practise languages with people from different backgrounds.

~Working with children
I have one year of experience working as a private English tutor for children aged 2 to 15, and I get along really well with young kids. I once worked as a volunteer teacher in the community during a holiday, organising painting and handcraft activities for children. We completed gouache painting and made traditional snacks like sugar-coated hawthorn together. As an ENFP, I constantly come up with interesting games and creative ideas to play with children. All these experiences help me understand children’s thoughts and connect with them easily.

~Art & cultural sharing
I have learnt painting since childhood with solid artistic skills and can help with mural creation. I practice traditional Chinese dance, which allows me to share Chinese culture with others. Besides, I have social media operation experience; one of my posts on Xiaohongshu gained 64,000 views, so I can assist with simple content creation if needed.

~Pet care & gardening interest
I previously owned a Schnauzer, so I am confident looking after small and medium-sized pets. I also have a strong interest in gardening and would love to help out with garden-related work.

~Practical life & volunteer experience
I used to work part-time at a five-star hotel, which cultivated my sense of responsibility, patience and teamwork. I regularly take part in volunteer activities at nursing homes. I am hard-working, adaptable and willing to take on different kinds of tasks.
