  • Description

Hey! I’m Bridget; a well- travelled artist from South Australia. My travels so far have been spent almost entirely as a volunteer; I am always looking for new opportunities to expand my mind and skills both personally and professionally. I believe that work exchanges can provide a wonderful platform for just that.

My current travel trajectory is to drive from my home town of Adelaide, through the centre of Australia, to Darwin, and then down the West Coast. I am currently looking for hosts to be apart of this journey! I have my own self contained van, which can double as both my transport and accommodation. I will be in need of places to park up, and communities/ lands to connect and work with!

I am a nature lover, preferring to spend my days in natural environments such as forests, rivers and beaches. I love growing food and working to create and maintain permaculture systems. I am lucky enough to have gained hands-on experience with permaculture practises in Eastern Australia, Cyprus, Hungary, Croatia, Jamaica, and México!

I am a practising painter, and have my own business where I sell my artworks. I am always happy to share my art and painting skills with my Workaway hosts!

I am a spiritual person who cares deeply about ceremony and spiritual practise. I have a profound interest in engaging with life as a spiritual path. In this way, I am motivated always to remain close to spirit, nature, and my truth.

  • More details about your skills

I am a practising and working visual artist, and graduated with a Bachelor of Contemporary Art from University of South Australia in 2021. Since then, I have developed many skills within the arts; including selling artworks, hosting exhibitions, performing live at events and festivals, teaching classes, and working in galleries.

I have skills to offer in property care and permaculture. I have worked with orchards, food gardens and forests, garden bed and swail creation, irrigation systems, weeding, construction, natural building, and animal care. Further, I have completed a short course on Natural Building through Byron Bay Community Collage. I do intend to study my PDC later this year.

I also have a depth of professional experience in hospitality. I have worked in this industry on-and-off for almost ten years, and so am a qualified ‘Responsible Person’ in South Australia for hospitality purposes. I have further skills in teaching and childcare, developed by work/volunteering both in Australia and overseas. In Australia I have worked as a painting teacher to both adults and children. Overseas, I have volunteered as an English and maths teacher to young children in Tanzania, in multiple orphanages in India, and caring for the children of various host families. I love kids, and am always happy to help parents by entertaining and caring for little ones.

I am very much accustomed to volunteering and merging authentically with community. I am a community minded person, and have greatly enjoyed developing the skills required to live in different communities. I am a good communicator and a very level-headed individual. I am calm, open-hearted, and genuinely invested in connecting with those around me.

  • What else ...

I’m a dancer, and I love dancing! I have studied classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, hip hop, tap, salsa, bachata, and belly dance. Basically, I’ve been dancing all my life, and it is one of my most treasured hobbies. I am a lover of music, and enjoy jam spaces.

It is also very important to me to be healthy on body and mind. I enjoy mediation and yoga regularly.
