Description
We're two friends trying to gain general experience to find out if we can pursue a personal dream of self-sustainable living. Hard work motivates us and being true to ourselves makes us happy. We're hoping to find likeminded people who can take us along the journey. We are eager to learn new skills and work hard for that learning.

Boike: I am a native speaker of Dutch, fluent in English, and beginner level in Spanish and would like to learn the language.Carmen: I am a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English, can manage in French, and I'm a begginner in Dutch. I taught Spanish abroad and lived in English-speaking countries for 20+ years.

Boike: I have 10 years of experience in hospitality, from washing dishes to arranging banquets rooms for eg. weddings. I have gained skills such as self-reliance, eager to learn, hard working. My family has had a greenhouse for years, and gardening is a passion I would love to nurture and learn more about. I am more than willing to help in the fields or gardens, help around the house, cooking; I would love to make a stamppot for you!
Carmen: By profession I was a Spanish teacher, but I am trying to go back to my roots and do something completely different going forward. I grew up around a bit of land with rabbits, chickens, lots of fruit trees, and a big vegetable patch. It was a lifetime ago, but I am eager to refresh my memory and (re)learn all the skills that are useful around a homestead or farm. I’ve shoveled manure before, helped with the vegetable patch, painted walls, and I also can help around the house. I’m doing this for the experience.
(Note on Carmen's driver's license: I only learned how to drive a manual car recently; before that I drove an automatic).

We are both big gamers, and we also enjoy playing board games. Parcheesi, anyone?
We would love to play your board games too! Boike enjoys football and used to play when he was younger. Carmen has some knowledge of how to make preserves, as she made those when she was younger.
