Description
Hello! We are from Taiwan currently in university. I’m Troy, and this is my friend Samuel; our friendship dates back to our high school days.
My exchange program to Utah(2023) and conversations with foreign friends truly opened our eyes and sparked a deep curiosity about the world—it’s just so incredibly different from Asian culture. Therefore, we're eager to participate in Workaway in different countries, and we're so excited to meet new people and dive into different cultures!
When it comes to my personality, I’d say I’m an outgoing, cheerful, and optimistic person with a real passion for exploration. As much as I love exploring the physical world, I’m also an avid reader. On one hand, I’m fascinated by ancient Chinese wisdom and international affairs; on the other hand, I love the freedom of a long motorcycle road trip.
And my friend, Samuel, raised in the Christian family has made him a positive and mature person. At the same time, he's an active soul with a lot of energy—he absolutely love sports! His love for exploration extends to music as well. He’s learned everything from the jazz drums and piano to the traditional Dongxiao(a traditional Chinese vertical flute). -

More details about your skills
Troy:
I often have outdoor activities with my brother, like surfing, hiking, white-water rafting, snorkeling, camping, and bikepacking (around Taiwan),especially a homemade zipline, also my father raised me to be self-reliant—he taught me and my brother that if we want something, we should learn how to do it ourselves. That’s how we ended up building our own homemade zipline. He also taught us how to run a fully self-managed small pear orchard and handle the home maintenance- from fixing pipes to wiring. By the way, I bought a second-hand motorcycle and I do enjoy tinkering with my motorcycle and doing my own basic maintenance and restoration—I'm not a professional, but I love learning how things work. Because of living in a dorm during university, I got used to cooking for myself. I can make some Asian home-cooked dishes now!
Samuel:
Growing up with a passion for sports, I became a professional basketball player and a versatile athlete, skilled in basketball, volleyball, high jump, and many other sports. Years of training and competitions taught me the value of teamwork, discipline, and resilience, lessons I carry into every challenge. Music has also been an important part of my life—I have basic piano skills and I am proficient with the drum set and cajón. Beyond sports and music, I explored storytelling and social impact by directing a Down Syndrome advocacy film, gaining hands-on experience in planning, production, and conveying meaningful messages. As a business major, I have acquired foundational knowledge in management and organization, and I approach every task with responsibility, hard work, and a positive, adaptable attitude. -
