I'm Ben, originally from county Derry, Ireland. I have finished my master's degree in cinema and now the want to gloriously vacate and do Workaway for a while. I'm a lover of good conversation, travelling and meeting new people, and films - making them and watching them. I am autistic. My other hobbies include cycling, puzzles, swimming and photography. I am a huge believer in the power of art and experience, hence why I've signed up to Workaway. I like working with my hands, creating things and learning how to work with tools and crafting.

I would say I have a nomadic spirit - I am tired of living in my home country and remaining stationary for a long time. I am more confident and eager than ever to get out and about.

My main area of expertise is most certainly photography & video. I love photographing things especially I have a keen special interest in it. I'm a freelance photographer and videographer in my home country. I am always on the look out for interesting things, places and people to photograph and will gladly share tips or help out with anything. I've provided a lot of profile pictures for people before and always game to provide coverage or documenting things.

Besides this I am great at working with my hands. I enjoy puzzle solving and finding solutions whilst implenmenting. Through Workaway I have had good experience with capentry, joinery, animal care, and instaling shelves. I have no training nor background in carpentry until I tried Workaway and I've found to really enjoy it. I can't promise to be fluent in DIY skills but I am happy to try my best.

In the past I have worked in a few industries besides media, such as hospitality, retail, sales and office. I am very computer literate also and can use a number of different softwares and stuff.

I consider myself an easy person to talk and engage with - a chill person. As I may have mentioned I love getting to know new people and one area I also love is language and linguistics. I adore studying languages and recon my best second language is French. I also have some grasp on Italian, Spanish and German. When I have had the chance to converse with a native speaker of any of these languages they are always charmed by my attempts to speak it, even if they fall short.

My fantastic stay for just over a month here in Balkanneros was such a good one! Everything worked out really well, during shifts I could chat with guests, read a book or just channel surf on the TV and it was all great. Ben came to stay here in the dead of winter and despite the cold weather and his cat allergy he remained positive and enthusiastic throughout.
He helped me on the computer and on the land and he was helpful around the house and good company.

We normally don't have workawayer in winter, as energetically autonomous, the room is not heated. Also we have not much activity. But Benjamin wanted to come, and he have been able to adapt himself to the temperature, the sad and dull winter landscape did not bother him.
