  • Description

    Hi there ☀️,

I travel with my partner Arthur in our 40 years old sailing boat. We did the refit by ourselves in France in September 2023 and left for a travel without return date.

I, Madeline, started a long term travel in october 2020 after graduated from University. The idea was to travel without a limit of time or a planned destination to see what this journey had to offer. I wanted and still want to take part of sustainable projects and imagine different ways of living. Concerned about my environmental footprint, I started to travel by boat hitchhiking and hitchhiking between countries and continents. On the way I worked in an off-grid community in the andaloucian forest for a few months, in a permaculture farm in the Carribbean, in a retreat center in Panama for 6 month, among others. Deeply engage for the living and for the environment I started to volunteer in 2022, at sea as a cook, for the NGO Sea Shepherd Global.

I, Arthur am a mechanical engineer, naval architect and professional seafarer. I grew up by the Atlantic Ocean in Brittany (France) and spent my childhood playing with the ocean and the wind. After a few years working in different maritime industries I decided that I wanted to defend, conserve and protect the marine wildlife and also spend more time at sea. It first brought me onboard a Sea Shepherd campaign at sea. Then I decided to sell everything I had in France to buy a sailing vessel and explore the world with Madeline. In my early 20s I worked for low tech projects and I am still very attracted by a simplest and more sustainable way of life.

The idea for us today is to travel between countries onboard Alma (our boat and home) and spend time on land backpacking and volunteering. The goal of this journey is for us to learn about sustainable ways of living and take part of sustainable projects, discover the community life and meet local people to get the essence of each country we spent time in. We are very keen to exchange experience and learn. We are now in Brazil, we are learning Portuguese and would be happy to exchange language knowledge (we both speak French end English).
