Description

We are a Dutch and Chinese American couple living in the Netherlands.Dora is a tree hugger, day dreamer, and explorer. She was born and raised in China, educated and worked in the US, and moved to the Netherlands in 2020, where she met the love of her life :) She used to work in sustainability consulting, specializing in sustainable fashion. When she is not helping companies to source better materials, designing more circular business models, or turning waste into resources, you can find her running a repair cafe in Amsterdam Noord. It's an initiative that she started with two colleagues to help the local community fix their broken textiles, bikes, and electronics for free. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, sewing, up-cycling, dancing, and hugging alpacas. Dora thinks they are the most perfect beings on earth and dreams of living on an alpaca farm one day.

Sven is Dutch and has lived in 8 countries so far. He teaches future planet studies at the University of Amsterdam. He is also a yoga teacher and a polyglot ( he can speak 8 languages!!) He loves reading, traveling, and eating whatever Dora makes. When he is bored with teaching, writing science fiction, making documentaries, you can find him meditating, playing piano, or washing Dora's dishes :P

We are both taking a career break and are very excited to explore the wonderful Workaway community. We're interested in alpaca farms, sustainability-related projects, arts and crafts projects, and language teaching.

Dora loves cooking, crafting (sewing, macrame, crocheting), and has experience caring for animals (cats, dogs, parrots). She speaks fluent mandarin, English, Spanish, and a little bit of Dutch.

Sven is very good at writing, photography, graphic design, gardening, and can teach history, economics, and many more languages.
