  • Description

    Aloha,

My name is Alexandrine aka Alex. Currently in between two jobs, so why not seize the opportunity to accomplish one of my dreams: discover the mystical islands of Hawaii :-) Traveling like a tourist isn't something that interested me. I prefer staying longer in one place, seeking deeper connection and real learning experiences. One thing is sure—I’m a very curious person who loves to learn all sorts of things by experimenting in real life rather than studying them in books.

I have a beautiful opportunity to take a little pause between two chapters in my life, and I’m excited to see what unfolds.

Here’s a little piece of my story:
I was born in Manhattan and raised in Belgium, the daughter of a Japanese–Spanish (American citizen) mother and a Belgian father. With this multicultural background, I’ve always carried an open and adventurous spirit. I’m bilingual in English and French, and I also speak some Spanish.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Communications in 2014, I set off on a solo backpacking trip through Southeast Asia. Volunteering at a youth hostel in Bangkok, an animal farm, and a guesthouse in Japan gave me my first taste of service, connection, and cultural exchange. I then spent time living and working on the island of Ko Tao.

In 2015, I returned to Brussels for an office job, but soon felt the call of the road again. Australiaaaaa, here I come! I lived and worked there for two years, taking on all kinds of roles: copywriter, massage therapist, barista, waitress, animal keeper, farm worker, housekeeper… the list goes on. Every job enriched me, taught me new skills, and shaped me into the woman I am today.

After returning from my travels in 2019, I chose to dedicate myself to an art form dear to my heart that entered my life in 2013: lomi lomi—caring for others through bodywork and loving presence. It is a practice I approach with the utmost reverence, love, and devotion. The world is in deep need of the aloha that Hawaii naturally holds! I am also very aware of the hardships, injustices, and suffering that exist there. Please know that I pay my respects and deeply honor this art that resonates so deeply within my heart.

In general, I’d say I’m quite a multidimensional being—someone who enjoys living fully in the body but also engaging the intellect. Alongside practicing massage therapy, I’ve held part-time roles such as manager in a youth hostel and later HR & Communications Manager in a motion design studio. I’ve always been curious and drawn to undertaking diverse projects that nourish different parts of myself. I am also committed to volunteer work in my everyday life—through the AFS program, where I mentor young exchange students, and with another NGO that helps our elders combat isolation and loneliness.

Now, here I am 10 years later, back on volunteer mode, and ready to embark on a new adventure—this time as a woman who knows herself, grounded in her values and dedicated to spreading beauty, love, and unity. Today, I feel called to Hawaii itself. Not as a tourist, but as a visitor—ready to learn, give back, and connect deeply with what is there. I bring my enthusiasm, positivity, and adventurous spirit, along with my random life story ;-)

It would be an honor to dedicate my time, energy, and heart to a project I resonate with.

    With much aloha,
    Alex
