Description
Hello hello!
This is Aina from Mallorca, Spain.
I am currently enjoying my vaction from work as a receptionist back at home, and decided to spend it discovering the wonders of Patagonia.
Before becoming a full-time receptionsit at Meliá, I worked (and lived) at a beatuiful mountain hotel in Norway, where I performed all sorts of tasks (reception, breakfast cheff, housekeeping, waitress...).
However, I also have lots of experience volunteering in multiple countries, such as Portugal, Perú, Ecuador and Colombia. In most cases, I volunteered in hostels, helping with daily activities (checking guests in and out, serving food, preparing breakfast, housekeeping...) but also explored other kinds of volunteering, more related to gardening.
It was definetely the joy those experiences brought me (being surrounded by fellow travelers - and locals -, taking care of people, making them feel at home...) which led me to where I am today.
On top of hotels and hostels, I also have lots of experience waitressing (since I was 17 until now, on and off), in sales (shop assistant), tour guiding (in a winery in 4 different languages) and others.
I consider myself to be reliable and hardworking, as well as a quick learner who manages to adapt quite easily in new environments, as I have done everytime I moved to a diffferent country (Belgium, México and Sri Lanka), as well as during my travels.
Being half mallorquina and half belgian (mom's side), I am native in 3 languages; Spanish, Catalan and Flemish, and have a high level of english, as well as a basic level of german.
And that is a small summary of who I am and how I could be useful as a volunteer!
I am really looking forward to this new adventure, as well as to meeting wonderful people on the way.
Thanks for reading! And see you soon? :)Interests

More details about your skills
I started working at the age of 15 at the town's bakery. I soon was left alone at several local markets and the main shop. It was during this time that I realized how much I loved direct contact with clients.
At 17, I moved to Belgium to study International Business. In the meantime, I worked as cleaning staff, waitress, barista and cheff assistant at a Hummus restaurant.
In Prague I worked as an intern at AB InBev, a huge beer company, which helped me develop and apply my business knowledge. That's how I realized that I was not made for the multinational world.
After I finished my studies, I found a job as a face-to-face "sales" woman at a national NGO, Vicente Ferrer. What a challenge! This job taught me the most about customer service; my patience and motivation were challenged every day. But still, I had lots of fun!
It was right when I left the NGO that I had my first workaway experience at an Eco Resort in the south of Portugal, and it was just amazing! My daily tasks involved preparing breakfast, cleaning the rooms and the toilets, and just giving a hand where it was needed.
When I got back home, I spent the whole summer working as a waitress at a local restaurant, which was crazy full every night! But again, I loved it and learned a lot from it.
After that, I worked at an NGO in Sri Lanka for 6 months. My tasks involved doing research and helping with the funding process, as well as going to their Shelter for Gender Based Violence. There, I mainly just gave emotional support to the girls and help them in their daily activities (which involve gardening, cooking, sewing, taking care of the babies...).
But it was during the seven months I spent in South America where I had the most experience as a volunteer; I did 4 more workaways in hostels, each of them requiring different skills and tasks: reception work, welcoming guests, preparing breakfast, maintainance, laundry... And I loved all of them! I also had one volunteer experience at an organic farm in Colombia, where I discovered my great passion for weeding.
My last work experience was in a beautiful mountain hotel in Norway, where I performed tasks such as housekeeping, dinner waitress and breakfast cheff.
I consider myslef to be quite versatile, specially when it comes to hospitality industry. I love interacting with clients and taking care of them as well as from the business.
One of my biggest strenghts is the fact that I am fluent in four languages, which really helps in this kind of jobs.
I would really like to emphasize that I am not afraid of hard work. I don't mind getting my hands dirty when it's needed.Age

What else ...
I am very hard working and learn easily. I also have lots of experience in customer service, and am looking forward to keep learning and growing, both personally and professionally.
In my free time, I love to draw and paint, as well as doing crafts when inspired, but what I love the most is hiking and exploring new places. Some more information
