Description
Hello all (:
My name is Ailbhe (al-va). I am a multidisciplinary artist, writer and lifelong learner.
With a love of plants, literature, writing, philosophy, art, yoga, and adventure, I hope to bring skills and learn something new everywhere I go. I am on workaway because I like to be immersed in the culture of different people and places, it’s an amazing way to connect and share.
I first joined work away in 2019 when my travel plans were discontinued by the pandemic - life moved other avenues and ways, and I am delighted to be back to explore the bounds and possibilities of the earth through volunteer work and exchange.
Last year (2024) I built a handmade wooden cabin home in rural Ireland. It was a big learning process and I really expanded my understanding of using power tools and working by hand. I also learned a lot about gardening and living without electricity through my own trial and error!
I am now looking to expand into the world again and seek opportunities to share skills and knowledge and meet like minded people. Especially during the times we live in, I believe presence and community is more important than ever.
I enjoy community living, having gone to boarding school and have lived amongst flatmates, roommates and friends in the years since. I understand that we are all connected one at the core (:
- experience in gardening and looking after the earth / environment having volunteered in local community gardens the past years
— have studied a MA in illustration from Falmouth, Cornwall, focusing my practice and research on embodiment, inter-being, presence, healing and ecologies of care.
— carpentry and basic construction experience
- experience looking after young children, working in a kindergarten where I was in charge of leading group activities and helping students stay engaged.
- completed a TEFL qualification and have experience teaching English to students.
- 5 years experience with teaching yoga in various spots such as community, studios, parks, gyms.. I teach a mindful hatha flow with big emphasis on pranayama.
- LOVE animals of all kinds and have a life experience caring for them
- enjoy cooking, with experience cooking for large groups in retreats, families and events.
I believe it’s important to laugh, work and play hard.
Nice to meet you! (-: -

Thankyou so much for hosting me at the Quinta. I spent a lovely two weeks here - it has a very peaceful, grounding energy even though it is a thriving guesthouse. Thanks so much for hosting me at your place (:
I enjoyed my stay there and found you guys to be very welcoming. I enjoyed dinner time chats and your jokes.
I would say that the work could have been more varied , as I was doing mainly weeding for the duration of my stay, and felt there was a lot expected.
However thanks … read more
