Description
Hi!
I'm Agata, originally from Barcelona, Spain.
After completing my degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, I went to Norway to volunteer on a farm for six moths. What started just as an experience ended up opening a whole new path for me!
I've spent the past three years working on different farms across Norway, immersing myself in this way of life while developing a variety of skills. Now I wanted to take a step further and that's why I'm currently studying Ecological Agriculture in Denmark.
I have a truly passion for agroecology, self-sufficiency life in the countryside and building community connections. So, working on a farm isn't just another experience for me, it's my way of life.
If I had to highlight something about me, I'd say I have a very open attitude towards life. I'm curious by nature, so I really enjoy learning constantly new things, getting involved in hands-on work, and having fun with it! -

More details about your skills
Before my life on the farm, I built extensive experience in hospitality, working in restaurants, bars and even at festivals. I've also voluntereed with organizations such as the Red Cross, as I genuinely like dedicating time to help others. These experiences have made me a versatile, polivalent, responsible, and proactive worker.
My first volunteering experience on the south of Norway, allowed me to develop skills related to sustainable agriculture, basic carpentry, and animal care (chickens, turkeys, ducks). I helped build a greenhouse from scratch, an outdoor kitchen, and a duck cage; and I assisted in preparing the field for planting various vegetables that would later be harvested.
Since then, I've worked in different places across Norway. On the west coast, I gained experienceat a steep mountain sheep farm, a large organic apple orchard, and a mixed farm with deer, lama and goats. In the north, I worked with icelandic horses, sheeps and lambs, goats and chickens, while also preparing a vegetable garden. In the south, I experienced the daily life of a small-scale marked gardener.
In all those places I have expanded my knowledge of animal husbandry, farm maintenance, and general farm chores, working in all weather conditions.
Notable tasks I have performed include: help with shearing sheep, painting large walls, preparing and stacking A LOT of firewood, constructing fenced areas for deer, insulating and renovating a basement, mowing extensive lawns, planning and planting crops, packaging harvested produce for sale in stores and directly to customers, etc.
I must say that I am particularly skilled at organizing, cleaning, and arranging spaces.
I consider myself a hard working. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, I can do physical work and I like to get involve and do my best in any tasks. -

I would like to thank Ingvild and Martin for hosting me for a month on their small family farm, where I felt very welcome. Ingvild is a very kind, warm and generous woman, who is always attentive to help you feel at home. Every day I woke up in the "volunteer" house, which is next to the main house, and started working at 9am until 2pm. I … read more

I went without any experience in farmlife, but during my 6-month stay (April-September) I learned and enjoyed it like a child. Difficult to put into words!
