This has been my best experience so far, and I’m so grateful for it! A BIG thank you to Joe, who was so welcoming and kind. Joe is very flexible and understanding, and communicating with him was always easy and natural. I enjoyed the time we spent together, playing board games with Miles, our conversations, and the chance to discover the local life in New Orleans thanks to him. The house is in a very convenient location; downtown is easily accessible in just a few minutes by bus, which lets you fully enjoy the city ! I would definitely recommend this experience to other Workawayers. Thanks again, Joe, for your hospitality and for this stay in Bywater ! See you in France, I hope. Take care of Miles and yourself. What can I say about my stay at the abbey.... It was a fantastic experience. The members of the community are kind, respectful, considerate and helpful.   They take your work seriously and are more than happy  to teach you how to perform the different tasks.   Also, sharing life with them and with other workawayers is  an enriching experience.  Thank you all for receiving me so warmly and for giving me the chance to live this experience .

I had a wonderful 3 weeks with Jacopo, Francesca, their 3 beautiful children, cat, dog, chickens and goats!! I also got to meet the many guests and friends that come visit their home and land. They are a lively, busy family with lots on the go and they do their best to include volunteers and invite them on outings on the weekends. I worked with Jacopo in the morning, organizing, cleaning and doing different jobs that need to be done on a farm during winter seasons. In the afternoon I would also take their youngest son on walks in the stroller around the villages, and I really enjoyed it !!! I also got to practise and improve my Italian. Their two eldest sons are also super outgoing and friendly and enjoy getting to know the volunteers. I highly recommend volunteering with this family! Please be prepared to engage with this family and not treat it as a hotel. They really appreciate when volunteers are pro-active and enjoy being apart of their daily family life. Lastly, I think their house in well linked to Belluno as there is a bus that passes by every hour and can easily connect you to train stations if you want to visit a different province or town on your off days. I am very grateful for such a wonderful experience. Grazie mille.

He vivido una experiencia muy enriquecedora durante mi estancia en Coolwater. Kevin y Claire son personas extremadamente acogedoras y saben hacerte sentir como en casa desde el primer momento. Kevin te asignará tareas variadas en sus jardines absolutamente magníficos y siempre se tomará el tiempo de explicarte, con pasión, las cualidades y particularidades de las plantas que cultiva. El trabajo se realiza de lunes a jueves, lo que te deja desde el viernes hasta el domingo para descubrir la región. Kevin también está siempre disponible para llevarte en coche a la ciudad, o aconsejarte sobre ideas de visitas para el fin de semana. Ponen a tu disposición una habitación acogedora y un baño privado, lo que hace que la estancia sea muy cómoda. 🌿✨ Guardaré mi paso por Coolwater como el recuerdo de un encuentro verdaderamente inolvidable. ⸻ I had a very enriching experience during my stay at Coolwater. Kevin and Claire are extremely welcoming people who make you feel at home right away. Kevin will give you a variety of tasks to do in his absolutely beautiful gardens, and he always takes the time to explain, with great passion, the qualities and particularities of the plants he grows. The work takes place from Monday to Thursday, leaving you from Friday to Sunday to explore the region. Kevin is also always available to drive you into city or give you great ideas for weekend visits. They provide a warm and comfortable private bedroom as well as a private bathroom, making the stay very pleasant. 🌿✨ I will remember my time with Coolwater as a truly unforgettable encounter. We were very lucky to have Laura stay with us for a little over two weeks. Her main tasks included childcare, helping with the animals, and painting. Her motivation, creativity, and conscientious way of working were an incredible help to us. Thanks to her easy-going and calm nature, she connected perfectly with both the children and the animals. We truly wish Laura could have stayed with us longer!

My time was indescribably wonderful! You feel so at peace—thanks to the amazing location, the lovingly decorated clay casitas and garden AND the wonderful people. From the moment I arrived, I could sense how much the community is valued and how much we learn from one another. I gained so much knowledge about horticulture, spirituality, kindness, and myself! It’s so important that places like this exist, and thanks to the intense time I spent there, I’ve personally grown so much! Thank you so much to everyone, besitos! Te sientes tan en paz, gracias a la increíble ubicación, a las casitas de barro decoradas con mucho cariño y al jardín, Y a la gente maravillosa. Desde el momento en que llegué, pude percibir lo mucho que se valora la comunidad y lo mucho que aprendemos unos de otros. ¡He aprendido muchísimo sobre horticultura, espiritualidad, bondad y sobre mí misma! This is a bit of a late entry but I think about this wonderful Workaway often and needed to write in, although finding all the right words to encapsulate it is not possible! Rocio and Caturbhuja made me feel welcomed and comfortable from the first day - I don’t speak Spanish but they always translated for me, and it was a treat getting to practice Spanish with Raíz. She is a brilliant young woman and we connected over our shared love of books! The food was always delicious, I’m vegan and Rocio always had plenty of nourishing options available. I’ve never felt healthier in my body than at the end of the two weeks I was here - and I second another workawayer review - the hummus is the best in the world! I loved watching Rocio create her kitchen magic. The work exchange was very fair, I found the weeding meditative and helping Rocio prepare her space for the healing retreats was sacred. Rocio also let me enjoy the sanctuary after the retreat ended which was healing and grounding. Rocio is a wise woman with a powerful practice - genuine, empowering, understanding, and wonderful to talk to. It was a privilege to learn from Caturbhuja about his spiritual practice and be around his sunny energy. This family is so kind, open minded, and intentional, always eager to share experiences and prioritizing everyone’s well being. I never felt expected to be any way other than my authentic self. Getting to witness their lifestyle has impacted how I live my life and see the world around me for the better, forever. I got to explore on my own on the weekends thanks Rocio and Chaturbhuja; I hiked a nearby mountain which I will never forget and Villafranca Del Bierzo and Ponferrada are charming cities with rich history! And of course I couldn’t forget the board games! The board game collection is epic to say the least and took us on some funny adventures. I cannot express my love and appreciation for this experience enough. The company, the solitude, the work and the play, the kindness and peace - everything came together to form an incredibly formative 2 weeks filled with luck and blessings. I recommend this Workaway to anyone hoping to connect, learn, laugh and grow - so everyone :) Thank you Rocio, Caturbhuja, and Raíz, much love to you all!

I was volunteering there last summer and it was a wonderful experience. Teresa is a really good hearted human and she is doing a great job. All the staff was really friendly and helpful. Dogs are the best. One of the best experiences of my life.

I spent two weeks with Carlos, Paola and their family, had a great time and some great experiences. There were a few other international volunteers on site as well, which added to the experience. Mostly worked outside, which was my preference, also got to help them take a drum kit out out of storage, clean it up, tune it up, fix it up and got to play a bit as did their kids. Plus, we went to Coconuco for a day trip, and had an amazing lunch in Popayan. There is a professional kitchen on site where you can prepare breakfast and dinner, and lunch is provided at the main house. The food was varied every day, hearty, healthy, delicious. The farm and the hostel are both very organized, well maintained, with lots to do and to learn about life in the Campo. Plus, there’s an amazing waterfall on site about a 30 minute hike through the forest, highly recommended. A great experience in the Campo with amazing hosts, surrounded by nature, and multiple varied projects during my stay. Would definitely go back and highly recommend this Workaway. En español Pasé dos semanas con Carlos, Paola y su familia, tuve un tiempo excelente y experiencias geniales. También había otros voluntarios internacionales en el lugar, lo cual enriqueció la experiencia. Trabajé principalmente afuera, lo cual era mi preferencia. También ayudé a sacar una batería del almacenamiento, limpiarla, afinarla, repararla, y pude tocar un poco, al igual que sus hijos. Además, fuimos a Coconuco en una excursión de un día y tuvimos un almuerzo increíble en Popayán. Hay una cocina profesional en el lugar donde puedes preparar desayuno y cena, y el almuerzo se sirve en la casa principal. La comida era variada cada día, abundante, saludable y deliciosa. Tanto la finca como el hostal están muy organizados y bien mantenidos, con mucho que hacer y aprender sobre la vida en el campo. Además, hay una cascada increíble en el lugar, a unos 30 minutos de caminata por el bosque. Muy recomendada. Una experiencia excelente en el campo con anfitriones increíbles, rodeado de naturaleza, y múltiples proyectos variados durante mi estadía. Definitivamente volvería y recomiendo ampliamente este Workaway.

A very nice and calm experience in Milos island. the work was short and clear and I couldn't have dreamed for a better house ! the sea is a few steps away so you always have a nice view and Christian was a very pleasant host, always positive !

Rabea und Flo waren 5 Wochen bei uns und für uns eine gute Erfahrung. Beide freundlich, respektvoll, willig sich einzusetzen, zuverlässig und sorgfältig. Sie haben sich auch als Paar auf die anderen Helfer eingelassen und eine gute, entspannte Atmosphäre verbreitet. Ich kann sie nur empfehlen.

Staying with Adele and her lovely farm family was a very wonderful experience. I felt very at home! Adele is a great cook and we shared many amazing Ecuadorian meals together. I had the opportunity to eat fresh cheese and drink fresh milk from her cow, work on my Spanish with Mama and Tía, explore beautiful places around the valley, and relax in the backyard hammock while playing with her dogs. I stayed with Adele hoping to learn more about working on a farm, and I definitely learned more about the inner workings of the effortful but rewarding work it takes to maintain livestock. I highly recommend staying with Adele for a true cultural exchange, rewarding farm and homesteading work, and a place that feels comfortable and welcoming. Thank you Ade :-)

From the moment I arrived at Ann’s house and stepped into her garden, I immediately felt very welcome and comfortable. Ann is incredibly kind, thoughtful and easy to talk to. We had many interesting conversations, and I really enjoyed learning about her knowledge of sustainable and healthy living, something she truly practices in her everyday life. The food was amazing: super delicious and at the same time very healthy. I felt really spoiled! And of course the animals deserve a special mention. Winnie is probably the most cuddly cat I have ever met! We spent a lot of time together on the sofa. Snoetje is also just incredibly sweet and gentle. And having the chickens walking around in the garden adds such a lovely atmosphere. During the week I stayed, I helped a bit in the house and garden and mainly with preparing a small event Ann was organizing. The work never felt too much and there was always plenty of time left for relaxing (and more Winnie cuddles). I would happily come back anytime, hopefully very soon! :)

Thank you very much to this lovely family for sharing their piece of paradise. It’s the right place to see how proper stewardship of the land is done. You can help with all kinds of projects: pruning trees, opening trails, rockwork, planting, gardening, grass cutting, maintenance of the weed wacker, you don’t get bored. Nice walk up to the falls and good play time with the dogs. Just far enough from town for peace and quiet . Look up and you’ll see mama condor gliding over her nest on the cliff’s edge. Volunteering with Adela covers all of the bases for a great Workaway! The work definitely involves getting your hands dirty, but that is the rewarding part. It really feels like you are helping Adela and her mom, but it also does not feel like they are depending on you for too much. Adela is very chill and super welcoming. She wants to you to be enjoying yourself the whole time, and makes an effort to make it so. She offered to drive me places in her truck regularly, and even took me to to further away beautiful places on day trips. I recommend making use of her great location to explore Ecuador after 1pm and on the weekends. Thank you Adela!!

Caroline & Finlay were a pleasure to host here , their work around the property was exceptional , everything was done to a high standard and they can turn their hands to any task . Lovely people and I wish them well . Highly recommended if you have the chance to host them .

Hi My partner and i visited Fran, Christian and Co. For a month. We enjoyed our time here very much, and felt that it was a fitting length. The accommodation is a nicely renovated stable, with bathroom, kitchen/livingroom and beds. The view from here is beautiful. The area has nice activities which Fran and Christian were kind to involve us in. We got to work with making a fence around the land. We planted a lot of trees and shrubs. We cut down some burnt plants. Weeded the vegetablegarden. One rainy day was spent making sour kraut. Frans yoga classes were very relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you for your hospitality! Jan was my first workaway host on my journey and it couldn't be better. I am so grateful she hostet me like a good friend. We did some weeding in her lovely garden, planted some seeds, cleaned a little bit up, talked and laughed a lot together. She often took me to wonderful places, we explored the area around Santa Cruz together. Thank you Jan for this wonderful experience 🤗!

I stayed two weeks with Sandra and David. Their place is very beautiful, nicely landscaped, full of flowers and fruit trees. The work was fair and nothing too strenuous, some painting, cleaning, garden work. I had plenty of time to explore Barichara and the surrounding areas. Sandra was very helpful with arranging my outings on the weekends. We spent many evenings having dinner and exchanging our life experiences. I highly recommend Sandra and David as the workaway hosts.
