I was reminded again how little it takes for a human to slow down. Just one month. One month to remember that life can be full simply by breathing (and eating dulce de leche). Out here, something shifts. When you finally arrive, the world you came from slowly loses its volume. Notifications don’t matter. And time.. the time is just different. Instead, you drink cold water from Río Rachel. You walk barefoot, feeling the dust, the grass, the earth. You sit quietly and watch the birds, the chickens, sometimes the horses — and you realize you are also just another creature moving through the day. Evenings belong to the river. Swimming in your favorite spot with no one around. Valentino’s music somewhere in the background. The sky turning soft. Somehow, without noticing when it happened, it starts to feel like home. It was intense. Not loud-intense — but deep-intense. The kind of time that rearranges something inside you. The rhythm is simple here. Six days of work. If you want a hot shower, you build a fire. If you need electricity, you step outside and turn on the generator. Nothing is automatic. Everything asks for your presence. I met people I will carry with me for a long time. Conversations that stayed. Silences that stayed. I feel richer because of them — deeply grateful. Tim is exactly the kind of head this place needs — experienced, confident, creative, and always open to new ideas. Loud, energetic, impossible to ignore. You’ll like him immediately. But let’s be honest — Pete is the most beautiful soul here. No competition. And Gallina has my deepest respect. Peace and love to all of you. And now… it’s time for a dulce de leche rehab 😉

I spent one month with Jackie and her family. They were so open-minded and funny. I loved listening to Jackies crazy stories and it never got boring. 😉 I arrived before Christmas and celebrated it with her and her family. It was so nice to meet so many people and celebrate a Canadian Christmas with a turkey dinner. I really enjoyed all the other activities, including meeting Buffy the bison. I loved caring for the animals. There are so many animals, so if you love them, that’s the perfect place for you, but be careful when meeting Ding Dong. 🐑 I really miss Bernard and Black Cat so much. My month with Jackie was one of the coldest, and at the beginning I was a bit scared, but Jackie lent me warm clothes and then it wasn’t too cold anymore.🥶I also had the chance to see the aurora, sleep in a quinzee, and visit a dog race. I really appreciated the time there. Thank you for everything Jackie and John☺️

Loved having these two! From the moment we reviewed the options for tasks and listed our priorities for them they went at it! It was lovely to have the confidence that things were being completed and done well, without having to check up on them. Anastasia did a wonderful job caring for our plants and garden, especially important during this dry season, and she kept up with all the watering from the reserve tanks. Our property thrived with them hear managing the chores. Fresh coats of stain on the hammock stands, living areas deep cleaned and beautified, bananas harvested and managed in the banana valley, transplanting, creative painting. And we were so grateful to have strong and clever Will here to help instigate our earthworks mission that we have been wanting to do for quite while. He independently tackled it and carefully and mechanically leveled and packed the earth along a trail we commonly walk but has been impassable due to erosion. We never could have completed it so fast without all his help hauling the concrete pavers down the hill. He is quite the trail builder! Will and Anastasia, we welcome you back any time!

It was a pleasure to host Emi and Claudio at our house in the Blue Mountains - they are great company and were generous in using their skills (which we don't have ourselves) to helping us out! Claudio fixed our outdoor lights which hadn't been working for months, and Emi took some great photos of our garden. They also cooked for us! Unfortunately I was too busy with work to spend as much time with them as I would have liked to during their stay. Emi and Claudio are welcome back any time, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to other hosts.

This year, I gave myself a gift: I hosted wonderful people. Gaetane and Boris are positive, open- minded, and adventurous, and they did everything they could to help us on our farm, in the vineyards and in the garden. There were precious and unique moments of sharing, and I truly hope that wherever they go, they can always have the best of life. A big hug. Enrica

This was my first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better start. I had a great time with Tree and Tom, and we had an amazing group. From waterfalls to overlooks, everything was amazing, but I especially loved digging in the caves. And of course, Mala, Milkey, and Smokey were absolutely lovely. Thank you, Tree, for this experience! I’m really thankful for it.

I spent a month with Lynne and all her wonderful animals. From a practical point of view the food and accommodation provided are really good. There are nice walks around. Walking into town is a stretch but doable but the train station is too far. However, Lynne was supportive of volunteers exploring further afield and happy to drop off and pick up at the station. She was also happy to take people into Melbourne on days that she worked there. Project-wise, there isn't a huge amount of work to do (if there are other volunteers to do it with) but it is spread throughout the day with different feed times and letting animals in and out of different areas at different times of the day. You can look for or ask for bigger projects if you want more to do. The animals are fascinating and rewarding and Lynne is a mine of information. Lynne's dedication to and knowledge about her furry friends is really impressive. She has provided so many animals with a safe, loving, spacious and beautiful home. It was a pleasure to be involved with such a wonderful project.

I have had wonderful two weeks in this place with Joep and Julia. The work in exchange for comfortable tent with matrace, very tasty and more than big enough breakfast on the working days, basic ingredients for other meals and very warm family mood all around. Work was mainly drywalling combined with some maintenance in the morning, it could get physical and chalanging with the sun but Joep cared if everyone is ok. Place is also very nice for permaculture enthusiasts as Joep has a lot to say to it and the place if full of interesting sustainable projects. Definitely recommend 🌿

We really enjoyed having Fabien come to our project. He is kind, conversational, not afraid to ask questions for clarification, and is up to doing any task you ask him. He also is quite flexible, since we discussed a few missions he would tackle, but then some new ones suddenly came to be a priority and he was quickly able to shift gears to accomplish for us what we needed done. We are so grateful for his strength, agility, and ability to get out and do physical work, it was so helpful to us. Fabien is eager to learn, eager to work with others, but also very able and motivated to work independently. It was nice to see how he quite settled in to enjoy the quiet and contemplative time the surroundings here offers one. We would recommend Fabien to any Host!

Sebastien is a very fun and responsible person! He initially only ment to stay roughly 2 weeks but ended up staying way longer. He's very helpful and took initiative when he saw that we needed help at reception or when guests needed anything. He also created a beautiful mural next to our Hostel and other art in our Hostel. Great guy!

My stay with Workaway was a truly positive experience. I felt welcomed from the very first moment, and the environment was relaxed and collaborative. The work was well-organized and in line with what was agreed upon, and I had the opportunity to learn new things while having fun! :)

I had a lovely 10 day stay with Yuka, Yosuke and their dog Seri on their beautiful, peaceful property an hour north of Nagasaki. The work was varied and interesting. Yosuke is easy going and enjoyable to work with. I helped with bee keeping tasks, woodworking, and landscaping. Roughly 5-6 hours a day. Plan to mostly be on the property during your stay, but it is possible to be dropped off at the bus stop and go to the city. We also went out 3 times for lunch/dinner and a hot spring day :) all costs covered! You’ll also have your own bedroom and shower/sink. Also Yuka’s cooking is incredible! Thank you both for your hospitality and good luck in the future!!

I spent a week at Adeline’s place and it was really great. She made me feel very welcome and showed me some beautiful places. The food was very good. The work required is simple and the working hours are very flexible. I’m very grateful to Adeline for this week. One small thing to note: the room at the top of the garden wasn’t extremely clean, and if you leave the windows open, some little weird bugs might come in 😅. But nothing serious the experience was amazing! Thank you so much, I definitely recommend this host.

Inga is an excellent person to have in your house: She got along very well with our children and had a good understanding of the tasks and how to organize them. She is punctual and correct, always up for a good and pleasant chat, and very dedicated. We are very happy that she came to stay with us: she helped us a lot with the daily tasks of animal care, but also with the start of the new gardening season and a few smaller jobs. We already miss her!
