Elena and Gianmarco are very generous, kind and caring people. My friend and I stayed at theirs for three weeks in February and we can’t think of a better place to spend our time during these rainy weeks in Italy. I got to experience their great hospitality from the first day on, when Elena agreed to pick me up at the train station at 5 in the morning. We stayed in a very nice bedroom with a balcony in their very cozy apartment, which gave us enough privacy without feeling isolated. They made sure that we felt like home from the first day on and Elenas amazing cooking gave our days of hard work the perfect break in between. My friend and I helped them mostly on the different parts of the farm, we collected leaves, build plant-beds, helped with installing a water system for the greenhouse and cleaned the olive trees. The work was always very manageable and the working hours flexible. When there were some harder days, Elena and Gianmarco always looked out for us, making sure we were okay, well-fuelled and overall happy. Whenever we had some free time, they always offered to give us a ride to a town/train station near by which gave us the possibility to really explore the area, including visiting San Marino, Rimini, Bologna and even Florence! Elena knows a lot about history and has the best recommendations what to visit in each place. Our personal highlights about our stay with Elena and Gianmarco: the pasta-making classes, the long coffee breaks, an ice-cream dinner at a gelato shop, our trip to the most magical ceramics place, singing along to songs on the radio with Elena while driving and our most delicious picnic in the greenhouse. Thankyou for Everything!

Like most people, I clicked on the profile because I saw animals. So I'm sorry to disappoint that there are non left (except a black cat). Obviously I was told about this when I contacted Gail and I was still eager to come to farm non the less. So what did I do on a farm with no animals to take care of? Gail asked if me to help her to clear, organize and fix the building/ tools on the farm, which included painting, scraping, moving and removing anything she asked me to do. I personally enjoy this type of work and it was never to daunting, in fact I got a lot of time to work on my own personal stuff. Furthermore, Varna is really close by as it's only one bus ride away as it takes about 30m to travel to Varna and the bus is every hour which is handy too. Also I enjoyed the challenge that came with living on the farm during the winter period, with plenty of snow and water freezing with plenty of nights with a cat and a water bottle as my night time buddies. Lucky right before I left the weather has started to get warmer so snow shouldn't be a problem anymore. Overall I had am amazing time away from busy roads and the towns people were nice to me too and I'd love to come back in the future to see how much of the farm will have changed. p.s. I am the cat's favourite person, so don't even bother trying 😏😌

Dan was an absolute five-star Workawayer and a joy to host. From day one he was open-minded, kind, and genuinely eager to help with anything that needed doing. He blended effortlessly into our home and was incredibly easy to live with. He formed a wonderful bond with my son, Ewan, spending hours playing at the beach, during hikes, playing video games and board games with him. It meant a lot to see that connection grow so naturally. We also loved learning from Dan about Australia and Tasmania, about his stories and trips, his jokes and the great conversations. Hosting him was a truly great experience, and we would welcome him back anytime. Thanks, Dan

Suzanne is an absolute gem. Quite literally, everything she was left to organise, manage, feed! clean and supervise, she did to a standard of excellence while I was away. Thank you again so much Suzanne I really do hope we can exchange again, well, you know!!

Constant and Alice stayed with us about two weeks in the middle of the winter. Despite the weather being very rainy they managed to complete a lot of tasks, both inside and outside, from cleaning fabrics, preparing the fireplace every day, tidying up the warehouse, doing the preparatory work for a soon to be garden, fixing pipes, cooking tasty French recipes and many many more. They were quite responsible and independent while working and quite fun to have around, share stories, crack jokes or listen to Constant playing the guitar. Thank you for the help. Enjoy your trip!

Tristan was a delightful guest and we shared a couple of weeks of site-seeing and plenty of interesting discussions. He used his skills as a documentary filmmaker to photograph some of my artwork accompanied by a reading inspired by the lithographs. He told me that he was interested in interviewing older people who had lived through the potent era of the 1960s-70s and he came to the right place for that since I'm an old hippie as are most of my friends. A highlight of out time together was listening to he and his friend Charles interview my 96 year old mother. He was very encouraging when my rusty old vestiges of the French language would pop up and overall we really had a great exchange. I will continue to make his fantastic smoked salmon and leek dish and enjoy thinking of him each time I do.

Dunja and Benjamin stayed here for two weeks and it was truly a gift. A very powerful team both on a personal and a professional level. We shared personal practices together, a lot of stories and some good German meals. They assisted with a ton of tasks. A lot of cleaning, cooking, cutting wood and repairing a variety of stuff: from the church door, to the door handles, to tables, to fans, to the old washing machine....if only we had more time. Spending time together felt as being part of a family. Thank you for offering your time, skills and presence with us. Have a great rest of the trip and hopefully an amazing time in Australia!

What an incredible experience it was to take part in the English-speaking activities! We are deeply grateful to José, Camila, Josué, Joseline, Cynthia for their incredible kindness and generosity. They went above and beyond to share us the best places, introduce us to delicious Ecuadorian food, and make sure our stay was meaningful and memorable. A big thank you to all the students ,from the youngest children to the adults, for their motivation, curiosity, and enthusiasm. They were proud and happy to share their culture with us, and at the same time genuinely interested in discovering ours. The accommodation was beautiful and the kitchen was fully equipped. The schedule changed depending on the day, it was always well organized. We wish you all the best !Adiós amigos nos vemos en Suiza!

Sabrina and I had a great week together cooking, eating, site-seeing, working in the garden and talking, talking, talking. She is open, friendly and energetic and I enjoyed hearing her views on both her country and the U.S. She was always ready to help with anything and also independent and self-sufficient when I had plans. I wish her the best in her travels with family and friends.

A 10/10 experience! The project is inspiring, the location is beautiful, and Antonio is a fantastic mentor. I learned so much during my stay and felt my contributions were truly valued. I would return in a heartbeat :)

Ella and Alina stayed two weeks with us and it was nice having two friends coming together with their own stories and internal jokes. At that time we had another two German volunteers here, so it was a great opportunity to both practice some german and taste some german recipes :) Ella and Alina helped with a variety of tasks, from cleaning tiles, moving wood, finishing a threshing floor, preparing meals to sanding tables, just to name a few. They were willing to take anything and completed it with great success. Despite the difficulties faced here they were always in good mood and assisted the general atmosphere of the place. Thank you for your immense help during those days! Enjoy the rest of the trip.

Gosh, it's hard to narrow down how absolutely wonderful Mira was in their time here. They went WAY above and beyond, not just taking care of things that needed doing, but making the place just...better. Putting up signs, improving strictures and systems. And such conscientious care of our animals, and the animals just adored Mira. A real bond happened. And Mira became family to us, a great conversationalist, wonderful sense of humor, both very smart and very kind. It was a hard goodbye, but we know Mira will thrive in whatever they take on. It was a honor to be their host...

It was so wonderful to stay with Putra and his family! We did a lot of great things including: planting durian trees in the jungle to create a sustainable food source for the wildlife, fixing the road by filling in pot holes with concrete, teaching English with the children from the village, helping prepare local foods. During free time we went swimming in a lovely nearby river and when Putra received word of nearby orangutans we would rush off to find them from time to time. Putra and his team are putting a lot of effort toward uplifting the people in the community and safeguarding the natural habit of Bukit Lawang where he was born.

This was my first Workaway experience and I really enjoyed it. The host family was very welcoming and made me feel at home from the start. The work was fair, and I had a great balance between work and free time. I’m very grateful for this experience. 😊

The experience with Cora and Anton was more than I could have dreamed of! I stayed with them for 18 days and they immediately made me feel part of the family! They live in a wonderful house surrounded by forest (I saw moose!) where I went on long walks every day with their sweet dog, Karhu "Ciccino." I learned so much about how a family lives in Lapland, making me fall even more in love with this wonderful region. Cora and Anton work so hard to build harmony within their family and the community they live in, creating a sense of belonging that included me too. The best moments are those spent together with their children: Lova and Leo are two energetic, curious, and sweet children. Playing with them and reading bedtime stories are memories I will always cherish. Cora and Anton, thank you for your precious sharing. Romain and I hope to one day have a family as full of love as yours. See you soon!

I’m really thankful for the time I spent in Dafins. Being my first WorkAway experience, it really was a super pleasant time. I was there for a month in June 25, and had the chance to come back for another month in September. The environment is splendid: beautiful property located in a small village in rural Austria, where the forest in meters away, but not too far away from bigger cities. Varied little tasks (from taking care of the huge garden to small DIY builds) and big projects (building a huge dry stonewall, demolishing a shed damaged by a fallen tre) are possible there, and Markus is a really open-minded host that spare no expense to make sure volunteers are working safely (relevant PPE every time). I enjoyed the morning meetings following the breakfast and the lunches shared after the workdays, as well as the top tier accommodations (separate bedroom, fitness room, cozy living room, fully equipped kitchen, healthy quality food). Despite Markus not being able to be working with the volunteers due to his work, I was rarely alone because of the multiple other volunteers working with me, and I love the discussions and connections this context created. I had a really great time, met numerous kind and funny people, and I’m not exaggerating saying I will cherish the memories I made here forever. Special shout out to Magda, Rob and Luter, and of course big thanks again Markus for this amazing time! Sending love from France, Côme
