I spent a month here and I couldn’t have asked for a better first Workaway experience. Bori and Attila were always so kind and helpful. The atmosphere was so welcoming and family-like. I also loved meeting people from all over the world; it was beautiful to connect with so many different cultures and hear their stories. The work was always clear and well-balanced, leaving me free time to enjoy the city. I would truly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and friendly experience!

Colin was my first Workawayer last week. He did exactly what I asked him to do, and helped out tremendously on a roofing project, which needed two persons to complete. Colin's stay was for one week; but together we finished the project 👍👍👍 At times I had to leave the house, but Colin continued to work in his own initiative and carried out painting tasks. All in all, I highly recommend Colin for any host. And I would welcome him back for future projects.

It was truly a very pleasant time; I felt like part of the family. Aleksandra, Nika, Lela, and Murier are a small family with big hearts, lots of imagination, and excellent energy. You'll never feel alone.

A huge thank you for your warm welcome, your trust, and for sharing your wonderful philosophy of life. We had an incredible two weeks, which we would have loved to extend. Your project is an inspiration, and we were delighted to be able to contribute to it. A huge thank you also for the conditions in which you hosted us: a private room, the quality and variety of the food (more than just a market), the freedom to work and learn, and not to mention all those moments of sharing! You are one of those places we’ll never forget and to which we’d love to return a hundred times over. Padma, Piero, sojam.

well what can i say about the family! I was with the family for 3 months. from the first day I felt like part of the family, I had been travelling for 15 months when I arrived and was missing thee family environment and my nieces back home, they filled the gap I was looking for and more. event tho there was bit of a languages barrier, well more of an accent barrier with my thick Scottish accent this didn't get in the way of the love and respect that grew between us. I have new famy and. friends for life and I can not wait to seen them again one day. please come and joint this amazing, sometimes crazy (my favorite part) family you will not be disappointed. sending all my love to thee family and Lalo (their dog) not so much the cats ❤️❤️🕺

Anaelle & Jonathan stayed with us for almost three weeks, and it was really sooo nice to have them here. They are a very kind, mature, and grounded couple, and from the beginning it felt easy to have them as part of the community. At the same time, they are incredibly hardworking and capable, truly some of the most reliable volunteers we’ve had in a long time. Whatever task they were given, they approached it with care, attention, and efficiency. We could always trust that things would be done properly, and often even better than expected. That kind of consistency and responsibility is quite rare, and we really appreciated it. Beyond helping, they are just very warm and lovely people to be around, respectful, thoughtful, and easygoing. We feel very grateful they came to stay with us, and we sincerely hope they’ll come back very soon. Anyone who hosts Anaelle & Jonathan will be very lucky, we can wholeheartedly recommend them.

My visit to Fanny’s place was short as that suited us both at the time, but she was super welcoming and really friendly to talk to. She has also traveled a lot and knows what it is to be a workawayer herself. There is a lot of varied tasks to do and and lots of interesting things to get your hands dirty with, and she also very flexible and open for inputs. She speaks english super well and has many nice friends. I think that the main thing i appreciated with this stay was the fact that Fanny was engaged in working with you and not just asking you to do things! Great place to stay!! :)

Dear Sandrine and Felix :) The time we spent with you was truly precious. You were a truly harmonious couple. The ideas you shared, the love and energy you gave us, your approach to children, and your empathetic attitude towards us were all invaluable and wonderful. Thank you so much for everything. We were so pleased to meet you. Looking forward to seeing you again someday :)

The week I spent with Brian & Mandy became a truly precious and unforgettable memory for me. From the very first moment we met, they welcomed me like family and always looked after me very well. They taught me so much about New Zealand’s culture and nature. Their home is beautiful and filled with a very good vibe. Mandy’s cooking is amazing and incredibly comforting. Brian teaches every task clearly, carefully, and with great patience. They are both kind and thoughtful—truly wonderful hosts. Thank you so much for everything. Keep in touch ;)

Meeting Sica was a pleasure! Unfortunately my staying at her house was short, but very enjoyable and fun Sica is a cheerful welcoming and open person that makes you feel as comfortable as home. She is willing to take you around the village on her scooter and have a chat, but also respects your space if you need a break from the day, giving you privacy in a very comfortable room. There is a classroom in her house where I helped the teacher with some playful and conversational activities for the little students. They are preparing themselves for the national Olympics! Her family is also very friendly and kind, they feed you with delicious food, offer drinks (her dad roasts the coffee himself) and despite they don't speak too much english, they showed curiosity for my culture, asking Sica to do the translations. They will make you feel like another member of the family. I would definitely come back again! Thank you Sica and good luck with everything ✨🌞

What a great slow tourism and workaway experience at Lapa Guest house! We spent 2 weeks there in this wonderful project! Beside of beeing a beautiful family, Ilmars, Sana and Leo are great hosts which will do their best to accommodate their guests. We spent 2 weeks in Lapa with another Workawayer, Yaya (<3) and had a really good time sharing, laughing, learning, talking, playing and enjoying every moments. As the project was at its start, it was a great opportunity to experience the questioning on its creation. Ilmars and Sana were opened to share their thoughts, and to brainstorm. Ilmars showed us the work of wood, to cut floors in a japanese style house, break walls etc. We helped also in the garden cleaning. We have been acomodated in a private room with balcony. Regarding the food, the ingredients have been supplied by Ilmars and Sana cooked also for lunch time. For the dinner, we used to cook at home, with our special workawayer chief Yaya or going to the sushi place. If you want a countryside experience, learning some DIY work in house with lovely people, Lapa is for you! The place is ideally located in the countryside of Ena. A direct bus from the train station leads you to this little village. For nature lovers and authentic japanese culture discovery, it's the perfect place. In the village, you can find a delicious sushi restaurant, a small café, shrines, lovely people who are starting different interesting projects and peacefullness! By the way, it is very easy to organise a day trip to the old town of Magome or Nakatsugawa and to visit temples, hike to waterfalls or to go to onsens. A bus from/to Ena is about 2min walking distance from Lapa. Thanks again Ilmars for your wonderful project! Lapa wa kakoii desu ne!! NaoTho

This was our first workaway and we had an amazing experience! We stayed at the school for a week. We prepared lessons, taught kids of all different ages and even did a bit of work helping to build a house of one of the students and moving soil for the playground. The meals were filling and varied (lunch at 11:30am, dinner at 7pm straight after classes), and we had a delicious bbq one night. There are a few cafes not too far away, and a local market, to get coffee or something for breakfast. The bedroom was comfortable, with a good mosquito net. Phoery set expectations well and explained how everything worked. Messages before we arrived could have been slightly clearer, but all good. His daughter, Sidou, was super helpful and always on hand to answer questions, give advice on lessons and explain to the kids in khmer if there were any language barriers. The kids are so sweet, it was a great rural village experience, where you will see pupils and their parents if you go for a walk / cycle / run in the mornings, and be greeted with "hello teacher!". When we were there, there were between 4 and 6 of us volunteers, so there were 1-3 of us volunteer teachers in any class. We all worked really well together and got to know each other well :) The school is well organised, with logbooks, textbooks, projectors etc. so it is easy to plan lessons accordingly (it was our first time doing so!).

spent 2x 5 days at Pablo’s place in the mountains, while visiting Madrid for a few days in between. Pablo frequently had to go back and forth for the weekend so it was a great way for a city break. Pablo is a very friendly and kind person and really wants to make sure you feel comfortable as well. Also he is really helpful in case you want to practice your Spanish (as he is a Spanish teacher himself as well). The house is very spacious including its surroundings. You have a beautiful view on the valley and opposite mountains from his place. The area is really quiet so if you like to go hiking and exploring without meeting anyone, this is the place to be! The work I did mainly consisted of helping out in the garden, cooking and some other tasks around the garden. Pablo allowed plenty of time to do stuff for yourself or for exploring the area. It is helpful if you can entertain yourself as well, but if you can, it’s a perfect place to stay at. Muchísimas gracias, Pablo!

I stayed about 10 days at Stefan's and everything has been amazing! The environment is awesome, the whole house and forest is beautiful and typical, food was great and everything we did has been inspiring. Absolutely wonderful people in a wonderful big farm. I sadly only had the time to stay for 1 week but it was an incredible experience. Andrea and Neville were incredible friendly, smart and experienced people. I had the pleasure to get to know their entire family and they were all really cool! The work was great and really flexible with their schedules. The accommodation and food were also amazing! I had so much fun going with Neville on the Harvester and getting to know how they work on a day to day basis. Their coworkers were all super friendly and it felt like one big family. They have seen, it feels like, the entire world, so there is always something to learn from them! :) Its really fascinating to see what it takes to get our everyday food and am incredibly thankful for people like them! I wish you all the best in the future and hope to keep in touch via email sometime! Thank you! :)

It was great to have Sumit here. I appreciate the clear communication both ways, it was easy to help him to enjoy his stay as he was clear with his wishes and expectations. Sumit is flexible, friendly and very patient. He makes excellent food, I was lucky to get to try it on a few occations. Sumit is always happy to help with smaller or bigger things and adjusts to different situations well. I'm happy that the stay was as expected. Thanks for all the help and all the best to future travels and experiences!
