Wasilla Alaska is the location of this project. It is is a retirement project to create not only a small year round Permaculture farmstead; but a place for city folk and others without land or enough time to practice a Permaculture lifestyle part-time.
Think of what a health club is; where people in small apartments or with not enough money for thousands in exercise equipment all get together and rent a place, pool money, labor and other resources, establish a reasonable monthly fee - and as a result they all have a very nice place to stay in shape and/or get buff. loose weight, the kids swim etc. Now just bend that scenario into those who dream to eventually have a small farm, a shop, make their own quilts, their own chicken eggs, milk goats, year round greenhouse - and there you have it - - A FARM CLUB - except this is projected to be a farm club that follows the three core values of Permaculture all wrapped around the word CARE.
Care for the earth, for people, and to always return a surplus at whatever you do.
Help in the house
At this time we are starting with a three night, two day of light to medium work, around 4-5 hours of contribution over 2 days.
We have a whole batch of Permaculture DVD's and other quality movies to watch on our 40" flat screen; but no TV, cable, recliners, couches or party facilities as this is a farm-life place. The stay will start with a home-cooked evening meal and visiting for the first night before retiring to your private cabin; home cooked breakfast and dinner over the next two days and a nice appreciation and thanks breakfast after your third night ends your visit. We cook as close to ALL organic and "fair-trade" as availability permits; and very happy to cook all vegetarian and even 100% vegan, as we ourselves mostly eat that way anyway. However, this is a no-alcohol, no smoking, no drugs including marijuana, and no music over speakers environment (earphones only).
We have various needs at various times mostly intended for those already interested in Permaculture and who would like to have been a work contributor to this project; limited to those because at this time we only have one cabin available for your 2 day 3 night work stay. (Longer MIGHT be possible in some cases; especially for the highly experienced)
A nicely finished smaller but newer "dry-cabin"; (see photos) with very hot shower and bathroom access in the main residence.
More important tho is that this is a project - - in development - - as in under construction and for that reason while your cabin is nicely finished the rest is quite rough and NOT for the nice-hotel's types; even some youth hostel types, but those used to some of the rougher hostels around the globe; that also tend to be the coolest, this will likely fit right in to what you've experienced before - because we do have both "attitude & gratitude".
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
