My name is Elvys I’m the owner of a simple and comfortable three-bungalow getaway in Sinkandang Island, which is a tropical uninhabited island with great corals, clear blue waters and amazing sunsets.
I’ve managed the place for 4 years and would like help with two projects: coral replantation to protect this important ecosystem and different activities to make the bungalows ecologically sustainable. Unfortunately, trash is a big problem and I would like to find creative solutions to recycle and reuse it.

I can offer a place to sleep and meals (we share the cooking), as well as transportation from Balai Island to Sikandang. While here, you can use the snorkling and kayaking gear.
I can teach you how to do coral replantation and some indonesian language and food.
For the eco project: make a trash management, recycling and reusing plan for the business, help collect ocean trash in the island, make a small building project with current trash (like glass bottles), help promote and socialize our eco efforts online (website, social media, etc), work with locals to increase environmental awareness, and anything else that you can think of!!
For the coral replantation: work with me in maintaining colar ecosystems and encouraging their growth, as well as finding ways to protect these from fishermen and other damaging activities.
I need this help during the low season, from January to April and from September to December, as in those months I have time to teach you and work with you.
The island is deserted, apart from two small businesses and a few coconut men. The place where you would sleep is a simple bungalow-style room in front of the beach. There is running water and electricity a few hours a day with a generator. There’s no wifi (you can buy a local sim card for internet). All supplies are brought from Balai or Singkil.
You should know that sometimes you would be alone in the island as I travel to other islands for work, other times I would be here and sometimes there are guests staying with us.
The food is typical indonesian food, we woukd share cooking chores.
Pulau Banyak is an archipielago with 64 islands with great activities, including snorkiling, diving, surfing, trekking, turtle-watching and swimming. Transportation between the islands must be arranged and the cost is not inluded in what I can offer.
