Description
Hi there, we are a Cork City dwelling family living beside a very special urban nature sanctuary called the Lough. We can see plenty of swans and geese outside our windows! A walk around the Lough is a great way to start the day and watching the sunset from our front yard is a great way to end it! We have a very long narrow garden that we would like to develop further as a place for play, relaxation, attracting wildlife and growing food.
Cork City Centre is a pleasant stroll away from our house where there is plenty to see and do. We have a great cafe about a 100m away and a bus stop as well.
We are a family of five with one grown up son, a daughter who is 8 and our youngest son who is 4. Our house has lots of books, craft supplies and records which basically sums up our hobbies and interests! We also have a campervan and spend a lot of time getting out into nature during the warmer weather. We have a really wonderful cat, Hazel, and a super-cute small one year old dog/puppy named Ernesto so you have to be a animal lover to settle into our house. We are mostly open to short-term stays from 1-2 weeks.Types of help and learning opportunities

There's lots to get involved in within walking/ cycling distance of our home depending on your interests. During the summer months there is a Ceili (irish dancing) session at the Lough as well as yoga classes. There is the urban sauna down the road too.
You're also welcome to join us for day trips and picnics in our van when exploring the many beautiful places outside the city.
We are excited to host people from different cultures that will get a chance to spend time with our children as we share our experiences and learn together through gardening.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We are hoping to have some help with odd and light tasks in our garden. There's times where we'll be working together and times where you'll be chipping away on your own when we're working or busy with our children.
There isn't a need for specialized skills if you're happy to get stuck in. We can be flexible with days and hours around what works for everyone but it would be best to work in the day given that it'll mostly be outdoors.Languages spoken

Accommodation
When you come to stay with us, we will share a room with our children and give you our main bedroom. It has a superking bed which can accommodate two people comfortably. We'll have a popup set of drawers you can use for storing your belongings. We may need to come in and out of the room from time to time to grab our things but we'll make sure to always respect your space and privacy.
The house is busy and child-centred. We try and stay tidy but with a 4 and 8 year old it never lasts long so it's best to host someone who is relaxed about this.
Guests can have full use of the kitchen and I'm happy to accommodate any dietary requirements. I love cooking vegetarian food but we eat everything. We can chat about what you're most comfortable with before you come to stay.A little more information
