Description
Kia ora, I'm Denise, I live just out of Raglan and I'm looking for HELP to maintain the property in return for ACCOMMODATION.
Here are the details: I live on a ten acre lifestyle block about 10km from Raglan, 35 km from Hamilton. Public transport is a 10 - 15 minute walk from our gate.
This is a peaceful spot, near the Te Uku wind farm. Surrounded by dairy, drystock farms and lifestyle blocks. The local school, coffee shop and country store is a couple of minutes away.
Over the past few years this property has been planted in native, nut and fruit trees. There are a couple of ponds that attract bird life and are home to eels. A stream borders the neighboring property.Types of help and learning opportunities

I invite you to come and stay as part of my committment of caring for the earth, caring for people, and fair share using the earth's resources. I will share my home, introduce you to our community e.g. someone who surfs, local artists, maybe take you on some local walks or a Tree Crops fieldtrip. Share with you a little knowledge of hua parakore (a kaupapa Maori pathway for Maori soil and food sovereignty).
Help
In return I ask for 3 hours over 5 days a week of weeding, edging, thistle grubbing, battening fences, building retaining walls in the garden and helping me move and minimize the contents of the shed. You will come with experience, in using garden and farm tools, to help with the above tasks.

You will be offered a room in the house or in a self contained dwelling. There is ample room for parking your vehicle.
Breakfast is supplied and you have access to a large vegetable garden. Due to being on tank water I encourage you to make use of the laundromat in Raglan to do your washing. Children are welcome and are the responsibility of their parents.
This property is in a limited coverage area, however you may access free public Wi-Fi networks in specific locations e.g. Raglan Library, Raglan Community House and most Raglan cafes. What else ...
Raglan is a small verdant seaside town reknown for black sand beaches, surfing, standUp paddle boarding, kayaking, cycling, golf and canonying. Cafes, growers markets, yoga and lots more. The whole vibe is laid back, the residents are wholesome and friendly. Raglan is a beautiful setting, ethereal, free from fast food giants, traffic lights and major hotel groups.
It is a town that is devoted to the environment evidenced by permaculture and the push to become a zero-waste community. I like to live here being mindful of my impact on the land so limiting chemical use, reducing waste where possible and improving soil integrity.
To take advantage of what Raglan and nearby surroundings have to offer you will need your own vehicle. Public transport is available but limited.A little more information
