    Description

Homesteading. We have a little hobby farm so that we can design a life we want & produce more than half of our food. We share knowledge and experiences. We work hard, eat well, and are always learning.

Are you a self-motivated, flexible, and curious helper who appreciates learning while getting dirty?
This is the help we are looking for:
    -Piling Firewood
    -Farm Animal Care
    -Gardening & Planting
    -Cleaning
    -Resident Artist
-Yoga teacher or Massage therapist (to help Brandie complete her trainings)

Everyone helps with food prep & kitchen clean-up *this isn't work - just an important part of living together*

I can teach you how to make bread. Most people leave confident to make their own sourdough bread :)

    Longer stays for are available.

We are in our 9th year of farming!!
Former travellers who set roots - into a beautiful 18 acres of land, with animals, a creative farmhouse, nestled by a little river, and 50 mins. to Ottawa Canada.

    About us:
Brandie is the Queen B. She lives this space, crafting, building permaculture garden's, preserving food, strolling with the animals. She works from home & cares for many. Mostly, you would be her assistant.
Elmir works over full time hours so is not always available for farm duties. He is very passionate about all projects future and present. He is skilled at and enjoys streamlining processes.
We recently became empty nesters. Our Boys, Éamon (18) & Zion (24) are off doing other exciting projects.

Notes for getting ready to come:
    Bring a headlight.
You are responsible for your own health and wellbeing.
Visitors require their own medical insurance since farm life has risks.

How to get here: There is no public transit from Ottawa to our farm. Some people find creative ways to get to us. If you would rather ask us for a lift, $20 covers the cost of gas + we can usually find a mutual moment to do this trip.

Our experiences run deep from our travels and guests can expect to be made part of the family. We can lead you to both city tourist sites (Ottawa) and country life of our area. Brandie is bilingual French / English but we speak English at home. We often have people over. There are strong creative juices to soak in and lots of crafts to try. Never boring - the days go by so fast.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our home is under an hour from downtown Ottawa. We may go to the city a couple times a week. We can pick our guests up form Aylmer Quebec or Ottawa as there is no public transit here ($20 helps with gas). At the farm, expect a slower life pace that somehow is always in motion. Let some time slide while enjoying breakfast, petting a donkey, resting in the tree house, visiting a nearby beach on the Ottawa River.. We can hike Gatineau Park, visit other farms..
