Description
The land was purchased in 2023 to start the lifelong dream of living off-grid surrounded by nature. It is privately owned and the work being undertaken is for the environment and self fullfilment, not for financial gain. The property is a 60 acre block named Hestia situated in the foothills of Wilsons Creek. It stretches from Wilsons river, over the top of the escarpment towards Goonengerry National Park. It has abundant wild life, a river to swim in, forests to explore and a large workshop for creative endevours.
The land was cleared in the 70s for growing bananas. It has not been managed with much care since and as such has grown back with a lot of weeds and other invasive plants. One year into a lifetime project we are clearing areas of weeds, planting native forest and learning more about the different approaches to land management. In parallel with the environmental efforts we are also establishing infrastructure for sleeping, cooking, relaxing and socialising.
Currently I am living at the property alone in a small off-grid cabin. My mum comes and goes as do other friends and family who are passing through. The dream is to create a place where people can gather, enjoy being in nature, break bread and work together.Types of help and learning opportunities

This is the start of a long journey. We are learning along with way through experimentation and help form others. Spending time here will provide the chance for us to learn, try things and inspire each other. The area of Wilsons Creek and surrounds is alive with interesting projects, great food, beautiful country and strong community. Despite still being quite basic I enjoy hosting and we have had many social gatherings at the property, making pizzas, drinking wine and enjoying good company.
Help
The help can roughly be categorised as either environmental restoration and establishing infrastructure.. Your skill set and interests would determine which project we tackle during your stay. In the environmental category tasks could include, clearing areas of lantana, planting seedlings, planting trees, creating vegetable gardens or pulling down chamfers etc. Currently in the building department we are finishing a bathroom block, establishing alternative campsites, creating pathways and at some point starting building an outdoor kitchen.

Accommodation
The accomodation situation lies somewhere between camping and glamping. There is a furnished 5m bell tent to sleep in, an outdoor shower and composting toilet. The shed has a functioning kitchen and living room for rainy days but we try and spend most of our time outdoors. This is Australia and it is not the city so one can expect encounters with all manner of creepy crawly. We will provide all the food but cooking and cleaning duties will be shared. It is a 10min drive to town so having a car is recommended.
What else ...
We are looking for pationate people who find enjoyment in working hard and creating something where there was nothing. Familiarity with being outdoors, getting dirty and having an adventure is welcomed.
