We are a sea turtle conservation and community development project that are trying to work towards building a sustainable living situation and model community conservation project.
Help with Eco Projects
DIY and building projects
We engage with the local community in many ways, as we are trying to develop sustainable community projects that boost the local economy and provide employment opportunities.
We work both with local children and adults in a generally informal setting, which provides a good opportunity for Spanish immersion.
We have multiple areas that Workawayers could learn from, including sea turtle conservation science, community development, tropical ecology and non-profit project management.
As we are coming into the sea turtle nesting low season, we are looking for people to support with other areas of the project.
We need help with the sustainability side of things on the camp, which includes developing permaculture ideas and maintaining our garden. We also want to look into improving a number of areas such as our composting system and reduction and management of waste on the project site.
We are also looking for people to work directly with the community in developing small projects and ideas, as well as providing ongoing support in education.
Our workawayers would need to be happy to get involved in a bit of everything, as the project activities can be quite diverse!
This host offers a language exchange
We have a lot of involvement with local community members, and always have a number of Spanish-speaking staff members, therefore this is an excellent opportunity for Spanish immersion.
Mixed dormitory style bunk beds in a 2-storty rancho.
Mainly vegetarian food with occasional chicken/fish.
If Workawayers have desirable skills that they are able to offer to the project we will not ask a fee, and food and accommodation will be covered by the project. Placements can also be provided for individuals that do not have a strong enough skill set to contribute significantly to project development, however they will need to contact the project directly.
We are right on the doorstep of Corcovado National Park, a highly biodiverse area with lots of amazing wildlife and outdoor activities.
