    About us & our place

We are Cristóbal and Rosan, a couple originally from Belgium and the Netherlands, now living in southern Spain with our two children. Five years ago, we decided to leave city life behind and create something more meaningful: a place where nature, hospitality and human connection come together.

We run a rural boutique hotel and agrotourism project located in the Lecrín Valley, at the foot of Sierra Nevada, between Granada and the Costa Tropical. The property is an old restored mill surrounded by olive trees, gardens and mountain views.

This is not just a hotel. It is a living place. We host guests, organise cultural events like artisan markets and live music, and slowly develop a regenerative agriculture project around our olive grove.

Life here moves differently. Slower, but deeper.

What there is to do & see locally

The area offers a unique combination of nature, culture and contrast:

Hiking in Sierra Nevada or the Lecrín Valley
    Visiting Granada (Alhambra, Albaicín, Sacromonte)
Swimming or relaxing at the Costa Tropical (35–40 min)
Exploring white villages and local markets
Experiencing Andalusian culture, food and rhythm

For those who stay longer, you start to feel the layers: the silence, the light, the land.

    Practical conditions

As we are a registered business, we comply with Workaway requirements:

    We offer free accommodation
We provide a monetary payment at least equivalent to the Spanish minimum wage per hour worked
Working hours and tasks are clearly agreed in advance
We expect mutual responsibility and commitment

Helpers are responsible for ensuring they have the correct visa, insurance, and legal permissions to stay and work in Spain.

    Cultural exchange & learning experience

We believe a Workaway should be a real exchange, not just work in exchange for accommodation.

By staying with us, you will:

Learn how a small rural hotel operates (hospitality, service, guest experience)
Experience farm-to-table philosophy and local gastronomy
Be part of events, community dynamics and seasonal rhythms
Discover a different way of living and working, closer to nature

We share openly what we know: business, hospitality, life choices, mistakes and growth. And we are equally curious about you: your story, your culture, your perspective.

How we live & work together

We work as a small, informal team where respect, clarity and good energy are essential.

Workawayers are not “staff”, but also not just guests. You are somewhere in between:
part of the team, part of the house.

We usually work together during specific shifts (depending on the season: reception, light kitchen help, service, maintenance, garden…). Outside of that, you are free to explore or rest.

We share moments together (meals, conversations, sometimes a drink after work), but we also respect personal space.

    What matters most to us:

    Reliability
    Honest communication
    Positive attitude
Respect for guests, team and place

    Accommodation

Workawayers stay in a private or shared room within the property, depending on availability and season. The space is comfortable, clean and integrated into the hotel environment, so you will experience daily life here fully.
