  Hello. I am a soon to retire pharmacist that has lived and worked in several areas of Canada and out of country. I purchased a smaller home overlooking Shuswap Lake in British Columbia Canada and nestled in the Rocky Mountains. I live only with my standard poodle Mookie but I have many friends and relatives I see regularly and a girl friend who lives in Calgary. I am only a few minute drive from the town to Salmon Arm which is an active community with lots to do especially during the summer. The area has many hiking and biking trails and draws many outdoor enthusiasts for the activities and the beauty of the area. I am close to three ski resorts (car needed). I am also right beside Lake Swuswap and close to Margaret Falls and many camp sites. There are several lakes between my house and the city of Kelowna which is only an hour and a half drive away. The major lakes on the way are Kalamalka Lake and Okanagan Lake. Wine making and fruit production are two of the main industries, but tourism is very important too. Summers are warm here and there a plenty of public beaches. I have a smaller yard that I what to renovate and need an extra set of hands to help move dirt and rebuild some raised garden beds and plant a border garden. I also want someone to watch my dog if I am away. The house is very comfortable and the successful candidate will have their own private room and a bathroom. I am a decent cook I am told but would love to learn about dishes from your home. All the very best!

  Where I reside is rather quiet in the winter months and very busy in the summer months. Many people us this area for summer recreations an have houses beside me that occupy in the summer. They come from other Provinces and you would have the opportunity of meeting these people and there extended families. They are all very friendly and outgoing. You will have the opportunity to learn about the people that reside here and the ones that come for vacations. I am a career clinical pharmacist but my interests are pretty broad and include golf, boating, gardening, wood work and cooking to name a few. I enjoy making meals for people and spending time around a fire outside. I hope to learn about you too as I have a keen interest in other cultures and have been fortunate enough to live and visit several other countries and take in the people and the culture.

  Help

  I need to move and make 2-3 raised garden beds for vegetables. I also want to plant a new border garden with flowers. I would need a helper that could manage a wheel barrow a short distance with dirt or gravel. Someone who likes being outside and does not mind help during the day would be suitable. We would be working together to do these tasks. If you have woodworking and gardening experience that would be great.

  I would be happy to prepare all meals. If you have dietary needs you may have to help me with preparation and cooking. You are most welcome to cook your favourite dish from where you live and share the recipe with me.

  What else ...

  Because I live outside the nearest town (Salman Arm) a car or bicycle is necessary. I would be happy to occasionally take you a reasonable distance and pick you up. Also I have a bicycle you could use.
  One "must" is that you must be a non-smoker and a social drinker. No Cannabis on the property please (even though it is legal here). It just smells so bad!
