Description
Hello,
For the coming weeks, I'm looking for help with my garden and light house maintenance. Most of all, to connect, enjoy shared company and find a good balance in our exchange. Most suited to a single person or a couple.
------
We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful location on the edge of a village and near to the small town of Seia (5 minutes by car). With me are my daughter, her Portugurse partner and my 7 year old grandson, along with their fun dog Indie, my young energetic dog Banjo and cat Bubu. We have a fairly full week and if you like animals and children, even better. We enjoy receiving visitors, so if you are keen to help us make a difference here and connect with us, you can also enjoy the beauty of the area and appreciate the view from each aspect of house and garden. There are lots of local walks, mountain walks and river beaches to explore.
I also work online for a couple of hours most days. Perhaps you want to learn something new, add your own touch, apply your skills, juat get on with the jobs in hand, or all, and any of these things in an atmosphere of conviviality. In which case please get in touch.
So in exchange for around 4 hours work,5 days a week, I provide basic accommodation in the self-contained basement (has some natural light) with a large double bed, drawers, a sitting area. There is also a toilet. The shower is upstairs. More often my visitors join in with preparing, cooking or tidying up for shared meals. There is flexibility and we can discuss these things before arrival to find an arrangement that works for all of us.
Please CONTINUE reading before messaging, if you think you might like to do an exchange.

General information
I have a garden, NOT lots of land but do have some olive and fruit trees and grow some vegetables. My house needs some attention to upkeep and make small improvements. My garden always needs care and attention. We all enjoy having visitors.
There are roads and tracks for taking walks locally and there are often events going on in nearby villages and towns which we can enjoy.
I aim to live in harmony with nature as much as possible. This includes growing fresh, pesticide free produce. I use a permaculture approach to my garden and day to day living. I'm mindful about consumption and hope my guests are too.
I'd love to hear from you if you think we are a good match.
Best wishes,
Rachel
P.S.
Things I appreciate: laughter, communication, mutual respect, willing to get stuck in, interesting and meaningful conversation.
Sorry but I feel I have to mention a small number of things I don't appreciate: over consumption of alcohol and / or weed, insincere intentions.
Thank you so much for reading to the end!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Visitors would be living in a Portuguese village so they would be experiencing the culture of this part of Portugal. It is a good opportunity to learn some Portuguese too. You could learn with me about gardening and fruit and vegetable preserving. Also how to cook tasty, healthy, nutritious and wholesome meals, cakes and snacks.

Help
I would like help with gardening and house improvements. My garden has a variety of shrubs and flower beds plus fruit and nut trees, including olives and vegetables. When the fruit and vegetables are ready then I might need help with preserving. Some animal care might be needed.

Accommodation
I can offer workawayers a self-contained basement as described in the profile. The garden can be enjoyed by workawayers. There is room for flexibility with food which might be eating together, sharing the cooking or if you prefer it you can cater for yourself with the food that is provided. (Alcohol is not generally provided so please expect to purchase your own if desired).

What else ...
The main attraction here is the national par which is great for hiking as well as swimming in the refreshing and stunning river beaches. Some historical sights like Roman ruins. Mountain towns and villages. Seia is very close. I would happily negotiate transportation to places.
