    Description

    Hello! I'm Alberto and I live in Edinburgh with my dog Indie.
    I work part-time and enjoy spending my free time exploring the city and making the most of everything it has to offer. I live in a modern 2-storey semi-detached house with a garden, built in 2018. It's in a great location, strategically positioned between the airport and the city centre, with excellent public transport links, so getting around is very easy. My girlfriend is a passionate foodie and a true Edinburgh enthusiast,she always has good tips on where to eat, drink, and explore. Between her recommendations and Indie as your walking buddy, you'll be in great hands.

    I've decided to join Workaway to offer someone the chance to enjoy my home while looking after my dog Indie when I'm away.
    Indie is a sweet 13 year old collie cross who still loves her short walks around the neighbourhood, and doesn't mind hopping on a bus to explore the city centre. She is very gentle and delicate, never pulls the leash, she'll just stop and let you know when she's ready to head home. She always approaches other dogs gently, if she meets a nervous dog she simply stays away and gives them space. She is very calm and empathetic and gets along well with every dog. Her main hobbies are eating, sleeping, and the occasional dramatic spin and bark when she realises a walk or food is coming. She'll be wonderful company and easy to look after.

    One heads-up: I also rent out a spare double bedroom. Guests use only their ensuite bedroom and the front garden, they don't have access to the kitchen, living room, my bathroom, or the back garden. So the Workawayer will basically have the whole house and the huge back garden available to themselves. A cleaner will handle everything before the guests' arrival and I have a keysafe outside, so the guests check themselves in completely independently, no involvement needed from you. This is a very important business for me, I just ask for a quiet, respectful atmosphere around my guests. It's a low-key arrangement, never intrusive.

    I'm looking for someone who is reliable and comfortable around older dogs, and will treat my home and guests with care and respect.
    In return, you'll have a fantastic base to explore one of Europe's most loved cities, recently ranked among the best cities in the world for 2026, with top scores for walkability, food, green spaces and culture!
    I hope to hear from you soon!
    Thanks ;)
    Alberto

    Edinburgh is a city that genuinely has it all, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old and New Town, a thriving food scene, and breathtaking countryside on its doorstep.
    It is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the UK, home to thousands of international students across its world renowned universities, and welcoming millions of visitors from around the globe every year.
    Living here, you'll find yourself naturally immersed in a wonderfully diverse and open-minded community. It's a fantastic place for cultural exchange, you'll fit right in.
    If you're looking to meet new people during your stay, the Meetup app is a fantastic resource, Edinburgh has a lively and welcoming Meetup community with events happening almost every day, from language exchange evenings and hiking groups to food/cultural tours. It's a brilliant way to make friends, practise a language, or simply get out and connect with like-minded people.
    I have a blog packed with tourist tips, hidden gems, local recommendations and insider tricks to help you make the most of your stay. I'll be happy to share it with you and point you in the right direction for whatever you're looking for!

    You're welcome to use the whole house!
    Indie usually sleeps in the living room or in the back garden. In the morning she'll need a short 10 minutes walk to do her "business" and wake her legs up, in the afternoon you're free to take her out for as long as you like, though she'll let you know when she's had enough (you'll definitely notice! 😄).
    To recap, Indie needs at least two walks a day, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon, and a meal after each walk.

    What else ...

    To make sure you feel fully at ease, I'll be present with you for at least the first day to show you around the house, introduce you to Indie, and walk you through everything you need to know.
    A few house rules to keep in mind:
    🐾 Indie is family, please treat her with love and patience;
    🏠 Please keep the house tidy and respect shared spaces;
    🚭 No smoking indoors;
    🔑 You'll have your own key and full independence during your stay.

    Edinburgh has excellent public transport links, so getting around is easy and affordable, you'll be well connected to the city centre, the airport and beyond!

    My suggestions for your time off:
    Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament are all within easy reach, 30 mins by bus from my home. Arthur's Seat (an ancient volcano right in the city) offers a stunning hike with panoramic views and is completely free.
    The Pentland Hills are just another short 30 mins bus ride away and perfect for longer walks. Portobello Beach is a lovely seaside escape, and the Water of Leith walkway winds through the city in a surprisingly peaceful way,great with Indie too.
    Edinburgh's food scene has exploded in recent years. Leith (the old port district) is the go-to neighbourhood for independent restaurants, cocktail bars, and coffee shops. The Grassmarket and Stockbridge areas are also brilliant for browsing and eating. The National Museum of Scotland, the Scottish National Gallery, and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery are all free to visit and offer great entertainment. The city also has a fantastic live music scene, with something happening most nights.

    Indie (13 years)

    Indie is a Collie Cross, a lovely 13 years old lady. She is very gentle and delicate.
    Even if we have a garden, she likes to do her business when out on a walk.
    She never pull the leash, she simpy stops when she wants to go back home. She always approaches other dogs in a gentle manner, if she meets a nervous dog she just stays away, she is very empathetic. She mainly likes to eat and sleep.
    She just barks when she understands we are getting ready for a walk, she gets too excited and even starts spinning.
    She is lovely and will be a very good companion.
